Dr. Abubakar Abubakar Usman is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of International and Strategic Studies at Universiti Malaya (UM), Malaysia, where he specializes in globalization, development, and the politics of Africa and the Middle East. show more »Dr. Muhamad Shakirin Mispan is currently a senior lecturer at the Institute of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Science, Universiti Malaya, teaching BSc courses including Ecology and Management of Weeds, Soil Ecology and Management, and Quantitative Ecology. He also teaches MSc courses including Applied Weed Science, Pest Management in Organic Crops, and Tropical Crop Management. He received a bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Ecology and Biodiversity in 2006 and a master’s degree (MSc) in Biology in 2010 from Universiti Malaya. He is a PhD holder in Biological Sciences from South Dakota State University, USA working on QTL mapping for weedy adaptive traits in rice; haplotype analysis for a major seed dormancy QTL region in rice; and seed longevity and photoperiod sensitivity in weedy rice. His current research focuses are mainly on the ecological genetics of weedy rice focusing on adaptation to various ecological systems, seedbank dynamics and longevity, environmental impact from various weed management, integration of sustainable agriculture for rice production, agroecology, and precision agriculture in rice farming.
show more »Dr Nor Nazrina Mohamad Nazry is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Education, Universiti Malaya (UM). She earned her PhD in Computer Science from the University of Sheffield, UK, and began her academic journey at UM in 2019. However, her involvement in the rapidly evolving field of education started much earlier, in 2006, as a research assistant in digital learning at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris. Her primary research focus is immersive learning, especially in pedagogies involving extended reality and the use of serious games for teaching and training. Additionally, she is passionate about related areas in instructional technology, such as computing education, human behaviour, and generative artificial intelligence for future learning. She has published numerous articles in WoS, Scopus, and peer-reviewed journals. Her recent research centres on inclusive digital instruction, virtual learning experiences, and technology applications for educational content. As the field coordinator for the Postgraduate Diploma in Education, she has actively trained pre-service teachers in engineering education, design and technology, and computer science. She is also a frequent trainer for extended reality workshops, a member of academic juries at innovation competitions, and a reviewer for international and local journals.
