PROFESSOR IR. DR. HAZLIE BIN MOKHLIS

Hazlie Mokhlis received a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng. (Hons)) degree and a Master of Engineering Science (M.Eng.Sc) in Electrical Engineering from the Universiti Malaya in 1999 and 2003 respectively. He received Ph.D. degree from the University of Manchester in 2009. He is currently Senior Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Malaya. He held several important positions; Deputy Dean of Research (2013-2014), Deputy Dean of Postgraduate Studies (2014-2015, 2017-2018), Deputy Dean of Undergraduate Studies (2018-2019, 2021-2022), Head of Department (2015-2017) and Chairman for Cluster Innovative Industry & Sustainability Science (2022-2025) at the university level. Currently, as Executive Director of research Center. Dr Hazlie is actively involved in research as a Principal Investigator with a total amount of research grants more than RM 3 million. He is the author and co-author of more than 300 publications in international journals and proceedings in the area of Power and Energy Systems. Up to now, he had successfully supervised 40 Ph.D., 12 Master (by research), and 56 Master (Mix-mode and Course Work) candidates. He is also active as a reviewer for many reputable journals and several international conferences in the area of power and energy system. His outstanding research had been recognized as Top 2% scientists in the world by Stanford University Ranking since 2021 up to now. In 2021 he was awarded Top Research Scientist Malaysia by Academic Science Malaysia. Besides research, he is also active in the development of Malaysian Standards as a member of Working Group in the Development of Malaysian's Power System Analysis and Studies (WG6) and Expert Representative in IEC for project TC 8/PT 62786. He is also an external examiner/assessor for many local universities for the Electrical Engineering programme. He was chairman of IEEE Power Energy Society, Malaysia Chapter (2020-2022). Hazlie is a Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council UK, Professional Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia, Fellow Institute of Engineering Technology (UK) and Fellow Academic Science Malaysia. Currently, Associate Editor for IEEE Access journal and e-PRIME journal. His research is focusing on improving the efficiency and resiliency of power system operation.

ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. LIM YIN CHENG

Dr Lim is an Associate Professor of occupational and public health at the Universiti Malaya (UM). He holds a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH), Master of Public Health (MPH), and Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from UM, as well as a Master in Occupational Safety and Health (MOSH) from the University of Turin, Italy Prior to joining UM, he worked for the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), the district health office, and the Institute of Medical Research (IMR). A primary interest of him relates to the influence of the circadian system on chronic disease and mental health in humans. He also studies shift work as a surrogate for exposure to light at night including related biomarkers for cancer, metabolic syndrome, and mental health. In 2019, he was awarded a distinction in thesis titled "Health Effects of Night-shift Work Among Manufacuting Workers" when he obtained his DrPH. Since 2021, Dr. Lim has participated in 26 projects, collectively securing grants exceeding USD 685 thousand (RM 3 million). As Principal Investigator, he has led studies on night shift work, fatigue, and non-communicable diseases. Dr Lim's main successful project as a Principal Investigator was the development of facial anthropometric data for Malaysian in 2021. The project worth more than USD 85 thousand (RM 345,000.00), which comprised 4,000 participants from all over Malaysia. The study aimed to produce suitable respirators (n-95) that fit the Malaysian population. This project resulted in the publication of four ISI Q1 and Q2 papers. The papers were presented during the 34th International Commission on Occupational Health (ICOH) Congress 2024, where he was the second Malaysian recipient honoured with the International Commission on Occupational Health (ICOH)-International Labour Organisation (ILO) Master Fellowship Award 2024. He is also the recipient of the Researcher Mobility and Networking Programme by National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) Taiwan 2024 and the award of Naveen Jindal Young Global Research Fellowship (2025-26). Additionally, Dr. Lim serves as an article reviewer for prominent academic journals, which include BMJ Open, Plos One, and BMC Public Health. Dr. Lim is actively engaged in the production of media pieces, with a particular emphasis on subjects pertaining to occupational safety and health, as well as non-communicable diseases. Since the year 2021, he has successfully disseminated a total of 65 media articles. In addition to his research endeavours, Dr. Lim is committed to mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals and researchers. Currently, there are over 12 PHDs (3 graduated) and 16 master candidates (12 graduated) under his supervision. His teaching contributions extend globally, including the development and delivery of online occupational health courses on the FutureLearn platform, as well as the publication of a 300-page textbook on occupational health and a book chapter in Springer on Climate Change. His dedication to improving safety and health, teaching and research excellence has earned him recognition as the Best Lecturer (non-clinical) for the Universiti Malaya Medical Programme in 2024 and Certificate for Excellent Service UM in 2024. Dr. Lim's expertise and contributions extend beyond academia, as he frequently collaborates with healthcare organisations and policymakers to translate research findings into practical applications that benefit public health. His work continues to make a significant impact on the field and the broader community.

ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. MARINEY BINTI MOHD YUSOFF

  Dr Mariney Mohd Yusoff has served as a senior lecturer since 2007 in the Department of Geography, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Malaya. She obtained her degree in 1995 and Master in Geography 2001 from University of Malaya. In 2007 she received her PhD from University of Leeds in Geography. She specialized in urban geography, urban environment, flash floods and social impact studies. Dr Mariney Mohd Yusoff has been actively involved in research activities as principal investigator and co-researcher under various research grants which collaborate with diverse researchers, national and international. To date, her cumulative research funding is amounting RM900,000.00. The current research grant is collaboration with AIR Selangor under a private industry grant in which the MoU of the research has been signed by the Vice Chancellor of University Malaya with the CEO of AIR Selangor in 2021. In the project, she is a group leader for the land use section. Dr Mariney Mohd Yusoff has produced more than 90 publications in Web of Science (WoS), Scopus Journals, book, book chapters, referred journals and conference papers. Most of her papers have been published in reputable international publishers such as Elsevier, Routledge, Springer and MDPI. For her publication in WoS, she has published her papers in Q1, Q2 Q3, and in ESCI. Dr Mariney Mohd Yusoff has presented her paper in local and international conferences. She has been invited as planetary speakers and invited speaker in international conferences. Besides, she was also appointed as visiting lecturer in Universitas Bandar Jakarta, Indonesia in 2021. Currently, she also serves in the Editorial Board of the Malaysian Journal of Tropical Geography and Sarjana. She was also assigned as reviewer for WoS journal and other international journals. Besides, she has been appointed as external and internal examiners for thesis and manuscript reviewer for several universities in Malaysia. Dr Mariney Mohd Yusoff has five completed PhD students and six completed Masters by research. At the moment she supervised six PhD students and two Masters by research. Her present duty under administrative work is as a deputy head, for the Department of Geography, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Besides, she has served as University Malaya auditor in 2016 and as chief internal auditor for Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences from 2019 to 2021. Dr Mariney Mohd Yusoff also represents the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences to the library.
