Dr. Ooi Po Lin is a Clinical Oncologist at the University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) and Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya. She graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Malaya in 2015 and obtained her Master of Clinical Oncology in 2024, achieving distinction in core sciences. Her clinical and research interests focus on breast, gastrointestinal, and urological malignancies, with expertise in chemotherapy, radiotherapy, brachytherapy, and palliative care. Dr. Ooi has contributed to multiple international clinical trials, including PACIFIC-8, ARC-10, DESTINY-LUNG03, and KEYNOTE-B49, and co-authored publications in Annals of Oncology, Annals of General Psychiatry, and Frontiers in Psychology. Actively engaged in academic and professional development, she serves on organizing committees and as moderator for oncology education programs such as the Masterclass in Systemic Therapy, HCC Masterclass, and Navigator Masterclass. Beyond her clinical and academic commitments, she participates in community and faith-based initiatives, including volunteer teaching in Sunday School. Outside of work, Dr. Ooi enjoys staying active through Pilates and pickleball, and is currently learning Japanese as part of her personal growth and cross-cultural interests.
show more »Professor Hany Ariffin is Professor of Paediatrics and Head of the Division of Paediatric Haematology-Oncology and Blood & Marrow Transplantation at the University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC). She also heads the Biobank Unit in the Faculty of Medicine, UM. Her main research interest is childhood leukaemia and she has been the Malaysian lead for the Malaysia-Singapore (MASPORE) Leukaemia Study Group since 2003. Her other research areas include childhood cancer survivorship, stem cell transplantation and inherited cancers, particularly related to mutations in the tumour suppressor gene, TP53. In 2015, she won the Anugerah Akademik Negara award and in 2018 received the Distinguished Researcher Award from University Malaya. Professor Hany is chairperson of the paediatric oncology accreditation committee for the National Specialist Register and a past president of the Malaysian Society of Paediatric Haematology-Oncology. She is also the chairperson of the VIVA-Asia Bone Marrow Transplantation Consortium for 2024/2025. Professor Hany is an Associate Editor for Technology in Cancer Reseach &Treatment (Tumour Biology) and Frontiers in Oncology (Paediatric Oncology).

Her research and clinical portfolio spans robotic-assisted therapy, technology-based cognitive rehabilitation strategies and functional recovery in brain injury and neurodevelopmental disorders. She has played a pivotal role in advancing patient care through innovations such as rehabilitation robotics, diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), and personalized cognitive interventions. A dedicated medical educator, Dr. Norhamizan leads knowledge development, chairs academic activities and commitees, and mentors medical trainees, residents, and postgraduate researchers across disciplines. Her supervision has shaped a new generation of healthcare professionals grounded in both clinical rigor and research innovation. Respected for her leadership in academic governance and national/international-level rehabilitation projects, she is committed to transforming rehabilitation into a technology-enhanced, human-centered field—redefining what recovery can look like in the 21st century.
