Associate Professor Sr Dr. Ainoriza is the Deputy Dean (Development) at the Faculty of Built Environment, Universiti Malaya. She previously led the Department of Real Estate at the Faculty of Built Environment, Universiti Malaya, where she has over 20 years of experience in academia. A Registered Valuer, Estate Agent, and Property Manager with the Board of Valuers, Appraisers, Estate Agents and Property Managers (BOVAEP), Malaysia, she is also a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), UK. She holds a PhD from Kingston University of London, specializing in sustainability and responsible property investment. Dr. Ainoriza's research delves into the critical areas of private rental market, multigenerational housing and housing pathways for vulnerable groups, including migrants. This impactful work builds upon her extensive prior national studies on elderly housing, the influential Housing-Income Index©, and financing solutions for first-time homebuyers. She has advised both private developers and government agencies, and currently leads the vital Retirement Village Development Studies for the Ministry of Housing and Local Government, Malaysia. At Universiti Malaya, Dr. Ainoriza imparts her expertise in Corporate Real Estate, Valuation, and Property Finance & Investment to both undergraduate and postgraduate students, while also contributing to the university as an internal auditor and program assessor. She is a frequent and highly regarded plenary speaker and forum panelist at national and international conferences, and has lent her expertise as a judge for prestigious FIABCI World Prix d'Ecellence Awards and National Real Estate Award (NREA). Dr. Ainoriza's commitment to education extends to her role as an external program examiner for the University of Sri Jayawardenepura, Sri Lanka, and previously for Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). She contributes her insights as the editorial boards of the Journal of Project Management Practice and SN Social Sciences. Recognized for her leadership and vision, she was selected as a Youth Expert in the TN50 Circles of the Future (Living & Well-being) in 2017 and served as a Reference Expert for the Institute for Youth Research (IYRES), Ministry of Youth and Sports. She is currently a Board of Trustee member for Aubrey Barker Fund (UK), Executive Board Member for the ASEAN Valuers Association (AVA) Malaysia and Ahli Lembaga Pengelola Akademik for INSPEN, JPPH, Ministry of Finance. She also actively involved in BOVAEP as a Test of Professional Competence examiner and accreditation committee member.
show more »Afiq received his First-Class Honors Degree in Biotechnology from the Malaysia University of Science and Technology (MUST) in 2013. He received the MUST President's Award for academic excellence and being the most accomplished student in his class. In 2014, he decided to follow his passion for research and enrolled in an MSc program in Genetic Manipulation and Molecular Cell Biology at the University of Sussex, UK. After completing his MSc program, Afiq gained valuable research experience by working as a research assistant at the Cancer Research Center (CaRC), Institute for Medical Research (IMR) in Kuala Lumpur. In 2015, he was awarded an Academic Training Fellowship (SLAB/SLAI) by the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education to pursue his PhD at the University of Glasgow, Scotland. His doctoral research focuses on the discovery of new antiviral HIV-1 and VSV restriction factors. His findings have been published in reputable scientific journals and have gained the interest of the global scientific community. After completing his PhD in 2019, he worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the MRC-Centre for Virus Research (CVR) at the University of Glasgow, Scotland, UK. In 2020, he returned to Malaysia to work as a senior lecturer in the microbiology program at the Institute of Biological Sciences, Universiti Malaya (UM), Kuala Lumpur. He currently teaches public health microbiology, diagnostic microbiology, microbial pathogenesis, and virology to undergraduate students. In addition to teaching, he also conducts research on various aspects of microbiology, with a particular focus on viral diseases. His research aims to understand the mechanisms of viral replication and pathogenesis as well as develop novel strategies for the prevention and treatment of viral infections. He actively collaborates with other researchers, both locally and internationally, to contribute to the global understanding of infectious diseases. In 2023, he was awarded a prestigious ASEAN-India Research & Training (A-IRTF) Fellowship from the Department of Science & Technology, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India for 3-month research attachment at the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIIT-Delhi).
show more »Born in a small town - Teluk Intan, Perak, Dr Limi Lee became a surgeon in 2013. She is a surgeon specialising in Vascular and Transplant Surgery. She underwent Vascular Surgery Fellowship in Malaysia and did further training at Monash Medical Centre, Australia. During her fellowship at Monash Medical Centre, she completed second fellowship in Renal and Pancreatic Transplant Surgery. She is also an academic surgeon with special interest in research on diabetic foot ulcer, venous thromboembolism prevention and dialysis access. She was one of the authors involved in the Asian venous thromboembolism prevention guidelines, which was published in 2012 and 2017.
