ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. FAIZURI BIN ABD. LATIF

Faizuri Bin Abd Latif was born in 1972 in Jerteh, Besut, Terengganu. He holds a Bachelor of Usuluddin (BA Hons) in Aqidah and Philosophy from al-Azhar University, Egypt (1996), a Master’s degree in Usuluddin from the University of Malaya (2003), and subsequently completed his PhD at the University of Malaya in 2009. He is currently serving as an Associate Professor at the Department of Usuluddin and Da'wah, Academy of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya. Throughout his tenure as a lecturer in the Department of Usuluddin and Da`wah, he has been actively writing various articles related to aqidah, Islamic thought, aqidah in the Malay world, and other related areas. In addition, he has been involved in presenting seminar papers at both national and international levels. To date, he has produced more than 50 articles in national and international journals. He has also authored several books, two of which were published by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP). At the Department of Usuluddin and Da`wah, he has been entrusted with several administrative responsibilities, in addition to teaching various undergraduate and postgraduate courses such as Aqaid al-Islamiyyah, Contemporary Issues in Aqidah and Islamic Thought, Bibliographical Studies in Aqidah and Islamic Thought, Studies on Deviant Teachings in Malaysia, Islamic Philosophy, Introduction to Usuluddin Studies, Works on Aqidah and Islamic Thought, Discourse on Kalam and Islamic Philosophy and others.

DR. LIM WEI KANG

Dr. Lim Wei Kang is a medical lecturer in the Department of Paediatrics, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya, and a consultant general paediatrician and paediatric neurologist at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre and Universiti Malaya Specialist Centre. He graduated from Cardiff University in the United Kingdom and subsequently completed his postgraduate training in general paediatrics at Universiti Malaya. Dr. Lim pursued subspecialty training in paediatric neurology in Malaysia before undertaking a clinical fellowship in paediatric movement disorders and neuromodulation at the Hospital for Sick Children, Canada. His clinical and academic interests centre on paediatric movement disorders, with a particular focus on the use of deep brain stimulation (DBS) in complex paediatric neurological conditions such as dystonia and epilepsy. He played a key role in establishing Malaysia’s first paediatric deep brain stimulation service, contributing significantly to the development of advanced neuromodulation care for children in the region. Dr. Lim continues to be actively involved in clinical service, teaching, and research, with ongoing efforts to expand access to specialized neurological care for children.

DR. ZIAD BAYDOUN

Dr. Ziad Baydoun, born in 1987 in Damascus, Syria, is a renowned academic and researcher specializing in architecture and built environment, with a particular focus on Islamic calligraphy placement in architecture. Dr. Baydoun pursued a degree in Interior Architecture at Damascus University, graduating with excellent marks in 2010. Following his graduation, he worked as a freelancer in the interior design field for two years before joining his father in large restoration projects of Al Azem and gazali Palaces. In 2012, Dr. Baydoun moved to Malaysia to further his education and enhance his artistic talents in 3D design and Arabic cultural arts, particularly the intricate Syrian traditional 'Ajami art. He completed his Master's degree at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in 2016. Following his Master's, he managed Damascene Art Sdn Bhd, an innovative interior design company specializing in renovation, Islamic art conservation, and creative multimedia projects, reflecting his father's company, Baydoun Art, in Syria. Dr. Baydoun earned his Ph.D. from IIUM in 2022, with a specialization in Islamic architecture. His research on virtual reality (VR) implementation for heritage preservation is widely recognized, and he has published numerous articles in international indexed journals. His expertise spans various 3D technologies and Autodesk software, including Revit, 3D Max, AutoCAD, and Lumion, as well as traditional handmade art. Currently, Dr. Baydoun is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Malaya, where he continues to inspire and mentor students in architecture and interior design. His professional journey has also seen him as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Multimedia University and a guest lecturer at IIUM. Dr. Baydoun's contributions to the field have been acknowledged through various media appearances on TV channels such as Bernama TV, TV1, and TV3, and he has been featured in newspapers for his and his family's talents in art and design.
