CHM DR. ARCHINA A/P BUTHIYAPPAN

Dr. Archina Buthiyappan is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Science and Technology Studies at the Faculty of Science, University of Malaya. Her research expertise spans Green Materials & Technology, Sustainable Waste Management, Advanced Wastewater Treatment, Cleaner Production Technology, and Inherent Safety and Health. She is particularly renowned for her work in green adsorbents, adsorption processes, waste management strategies, and initiatives aimed at achieving zero carbon emissions and carbon neutrality. In addition to her scientific contributions, Dr. Archina integrates Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into her research, emphasizing sustainable industrial practices, corporate environmental responsibility, and policy-driven frameworks for a greener economy. Her work extends beyond academia, collaborating with industries and policymakers to bridge the gap between scientific innovation and practical implementation. Dr. Archina has guided over 10 PhD and Master’s students and has contributed more than 50 publications to high-impact journals and conference proceedings. She is an active member of professional bodies such as Institut Kimia Malaysia (IKM) and the Institute of Materials, Malaysia (IOM). As a dedicated chemist and sustainability advocate, her research is deeply rooted in advancing environmental sustainability, driving innovation, and developing solutions for a cleaner, more responsible future.

DR. NAJAH BINTI MD ALWI

Dr. Najah Md Alwi is a Senior Lecturer at Universiti Malaya specialising in sustainable architecture, building design urban studies, and environmental-social sustainability in the built environment. With over fifteen years of international experience in New Zealand, Malaysia, and the UK, she focuses on biophilic design, energy-efficient buildings, and inclusive urban spaces. Holding a PhD in Social Science (Architecture & Urban Landscape) and a Master's in Sustainable Design,she actively collaborates with industry and policymakers to advance climate resilience and net-zero buildings. Dr Najah is also Green Building Index (GBI)-accredited professional, a current PAM ESG Committee member, and a Council Member of EUROPH for Human Habitat & Settlement. Dr. Najah is part of the research supervision team at Universiti Malaya. Interchangeably a member of the Green Sustainable Architecture Lab (GSAL) and Urban Community Architecture Lab (UCAL), she contributes to sustainable design innovations and advocates for low-carbon, future, and social well-being. Currently her research centres on circular economy and green infrastructure technologies. She also welcomes PhD and Master’s students interested in exploring innovative approaches to sustainable design and urban planning. PROF. DR. V.RATHNA DEVI A/P A.VAITHILINGAM

   Rathna Devi Vaithilingam graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery and Masters in Clinical Dentistry (Periodontology) from the University of Malaya. She previously worked in the Ministry of Health as a consultant periodontist before joining University Malaya as a  Senior Lecturer in 2008. She is currently a Professor in the field of Periodontology in the Faculty of Dentistry. She has been a principal investigator in various research projects pertaining to periodontal-systemic relationship, genetic studies associated with periodontal disease and periodontal regenerative therapy. Her research output has been published in various peer- reviewed international and local publications. She has presented internationally and locally on her area of expertise. She was previously the President of Malaysian Society for Oral Microbiologists and Oral Immunologists and President of the Malaysian Society of Periodontology. She is also a member of various national and international professional bodies. She is an Editorial Board member of the Annals of Dentistry University Malaya and previously the Journal of International Academy of Periodontology.
