DATIN PROF. DR. IZLIN BINTI ISMAIL

Izlin is currently the Deputy Dean Research at the Faculty of Business and Economics, Universiti Malaya. She was formerly the Head of Department of Finance and Banking, as well as the Director for the Centre of Business Excellence (CBE@UM) at the faculty. She has also served as the Deputy Director at the International Institute of Public Policy and Management (INPUMA). Prior to academia, she was a corporate analyst at a multinational corporation. Izlin graduated with a BSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science, MSc in Investment Management from Bayes Business School, City, University of London, and PhD at Nottingham University Business School. She has published in indexed journals in areas such as international finance, microfinance, financial literacy, fintech and energy finance. She has also published several books including a financial literacy handbook for primary school students, a research-based book on consumer financial vulnerabilities, and recently a book on Fintech in Malaysia. Izlin has been appointed as consultant for several projects such as on financial literacy for primary schools and on economic enhancement programmes for public infrastructure projects. She has also led 8 out of 18 research projects with a total grant value of more than RM1 million. Her current research projects include financial literacy workshops for vulnerable groups including pensioners, migrant workers as well as students. She is also a corporate trainer for finance-related courses in corporate certification programmes. As for supervision, she has supervised more than 10 PhD and 50 Master students to completion.

DR. WOO CHAW SENG

Woo Chaw Seng completed his B.Comp.Sc. and M.Comp.Sc. at the University of Malaya(UM) in 1996 and 1999 respectively. He joined the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology at UM in 1999 as a lecturer. A SIRIM patent was granted out of his Masters thesis. Serving as a fellow in the 5th Residential College from 2000 to 2003 provided him lots of management skills and softskills. He received a fully financed Study Leave Award from UM to study PhD at QUT Australia in 2004-2006. UM appointed him to serve as Principal of the 1st Residential College from 2008 to 2012. The university management also appointed him to serve as Head of Artificial Intelligence Department in his faculty from 2009 to 2011. He was awarded a fully financed 9-month sabbatical leave in 2012. Dr Woo has been actively doing research, supervising postgraduates, managing research grants, attending workshops/seminars, and publishing in conferences and journals. His research interests include image processing, computer security, and mobile computing.

DR. SYAKIRAH BINTI RIFA'IN @ MOHD RIFAIN

Dr. Syakirah Rifa’in@Mohd Rifain is a Senior Lecturer for Department of Arabic and Middle Eastern Languages at the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, UM. She graduated from Islamic Science University of Malaysia in Arabic Language and Communication Studies. She obtained her Master in Modern Language Studies in Arabic Language, Universiti Malaya. She completed her PhD in Arabic Language at Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, UM. Her research interest area includes Balaghah, Pragmatic and Semantic. Currently, she is involved in research related to Arabic for Specific Purpose in University Malaya.
