She served at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universiti Malaya under the Deputy Dean of Research and Innovation Office from 2003 until April 2025. During this time, she was actively involved in Research Management, supporting research planning, grant coordination, and academic collaborations within the faculty. Additionally, she also served as the Corporate Relations Officer and managed the program coordination under the External Linkage Unit for the Faculty. Prior to that, from 2021 to 2023, she was attached to the Health and Well-Being Research Cluster at the Research Management & Innovation Complex, where she managed grant-related activities, including pre-award and post-award processes, providing essential support to researchers across various disciplines. Dr. Chanthiriga has worked 11 years at the Biomaterials Laboratory, Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Malaya, where she contributed extensively to research in biomaterials and dental materials. She worked as a Researcher at COMBICAT Universiti Malaya (now known as NANOCEN), specializing in catalyst synthesis and catalytic reaction studies from 2003 to 2009. Dr. Chanthiriga holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied Chemistry (BSc.Hons. UM) in 2003. She is a Material Scientist with a multidisciplinary background. She obtained her Master of Science in Advanced Materials (UM)(2008) in the field of catalysis where she focused on the development and characterization of catalytic materials. She also completed a 6-month R&D training on catalysis at the Institute of Technology of Chemical University of Polytechnic, Valencia, Spain in 2004. She earned her PhD (UM) in Dental Materials, with research collaborated with a local Industry partner to enhance the Silverfil™ product by incorporating nano-sized silver particles into its manufacturing process. This innovation successfully improved the material's properties and performance, highlighting of nanotechnology in advancing dental material. Her research interests include nanoparticles, biomaterials, advanced materials and materials characterization techniques. She is an experienced EndNote trainer and have conducted over 12 workshops at the Faculty of Dentistry and at the Research Cluster for academic staff, postgraduate students, and researchers. Dr. Chanthiriga is an Accreditation Assessor for Calibration and Testing under Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (SAMM) for the Department of Standards Malaysia, with an appointment valid until 31 December 2027. She served as Treasurer for the Persatuan Alumni Indian Universiti Malaya (PANI UM) from 2020 to 2026.
