Dr. Amir Hazwan Abdul Rahim is a Senior Dental Lecturer at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Malaya. He obtained his Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Queen Mary University of London and subsequently pursued postgraduate training at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium, where he obtained his Master’s degree in Forensic Odontology. He later completed his PhD at Queen Mary University of London.

His research interests are primarily in forensic odontology, particularly dental age estimation, forensic imaging, dental and facial morphometry, and human identification. His research has been published in international peer-reviewed journals including Forensic Science International, International Journal of Legal Medicine, Journal of Forensic Sciences, Legal Medicine, and Oral Radiology. He is also involved in research applying three-dimensional imaging and qualitative and quantitative methods to forensic dental identification and age estimation.

In addition to research, Dr. Amir is actively involved in undergraduate teaching in Oral and Maxillofacial Imaging and the supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate research. He has delivered invited lectures on forensic odontology and dental age estimation at national and international programmes and contributes to the academic community through research collaboration, peer review, and professional activities in dentistry and forensic sciences.
