Dr. Mohamad Razif bin Mohamad Fuad is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Usuluddin and Da'wah, Academy of Islamic Studies, Universiti Malaya, specialising in Islamic theology (ʿaqīdah), theosophical and esoteric currents in religious thought, comparative religion, and atheism. He approaches atheism not merely as an intellectual denial of God, but as a broader epistemological and psychospiritual condition, situating classical Islamic theological traditions in critical dialogue with modern New Atheist discourse, contemporary philosophy of religion, and ethical questions arising from modernity.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in ʿAqīdah and Religion Studies from USIM, a Master's degree in Usul al-Din and Comparative Religion from IIUM — focusing on the thought of ʿAbd al-Wahhab al-Shaʿrānī — and a PhD in ʿAqīdah and Islamic Thought from the Universiti Malaya, awarded with distinction. His doctoral research analysed critiques of New Atheist arguments through a comparative study of Muslim and Christian theological traditions. He is also an alumnus of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), United States Department of State (2022).
His current research interests include theosophy and modern esotericism, the psychospiritual dimensions of disbelief, the ethical implications of artificial intelligence, and secularism. He is an active public intellectual, contributing articles to Utusan Malaysia and appearing as a resource person on TV Alhijrah, and regularly delivers lectures for universities, NGOs, and government agencies.
