Dr. Wang I Ta started his piano study at the age of ten and received his formal training in the National Taiwan Normal University (BA) under prof. Lina Yeh, Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University (MM) under prof. Boris Slutsky, and University of Minnesota (DMA) under prof. Alexander Braginsky. He was the recipient of the Rising Star Award of National Concert Hall in Taiwan 2008, Hutchinson Scholarship (University of Minnesota), and Rosenberg Scholarship (Peabody Conservatory). He was the winner of the Schubert Club Music Competition, the Walnut Hill Concerto Competition, and the Eleanor Bell Watson Competition. Besides his formal education, he also attended and performed in renowned festivals such as TCU/Cliburn Piano Institute (now Piano Texas), International New York Keyboard Festival, and Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory-The International Summer School. As a soloist, he has collaborated with the KLPAC Orchestra, Camerata Youth Orchestra, UM Symphony Orchestra, Hunan Symphony Orchestra and Longwood Symphony Orchestra, etc. His concerts in Taiwan were sponsored by the National Culture and Arts Foundation from 2008 to 2012. He is currently the Head of the Music Department and a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Creative Arts, University of Malaya.
show more »Dr Azlida obtained her Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Malaya (UM) in 2008. After working with the Ministry of Health for over two years, she became a trainee lecturer at the University of Malaya (UM) in 2010. She then earned a Master's in Dental Public Health (DPH) from Queen Mary, University of London, along with a Diploma in Dental Public Health from the Royal College of Surgeons (England) in 2011. She enrolled for a PhD programme at Cardiff University in 2014 and completed it in 2017. Her PhD project won the prestigious Roger Anderson Prize from The British Association for the Study of Community Dentistry. Dr Azlida is now an Associate Professor and a registered dental public health specialist in Malaysia. She teaches and supervises students in both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. In the early years of her academic career, she held the position of undergraduate coordinator. From 2020 onward, she assumed the role of Postgraduate Coordinator (Master of Community Oral Health) and is currently spearheading the Doctor of Dental Public Health (DrDPH) programme at the Faculty of Dentistry, UM. Continuing to enhance her credentials, she obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education (with distinction) from the University of South Wales, UK, and was awarded a Fellowship in Dental Education from the Faculty of Dental Trainers, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2023. She possesses a commendable record of publications in ISI/Scopus-indexed journals and has actively participated as a reviewer for numerous publications. Her accomplishments include receiving awards for research, education, and innovation on both national and international platforms. Her research pursuits range from preventive dentistry and oral epidemiology to dental education. In recent years, she has taken a proactive approach by publishing in mass media to share insights about dentistry and promote oral disease prevention with the general public. She is also actively engaged with the Malaysian Ministry of Health (MOH) and has assumed roles as a committee member for the National Oral Health Plan (2021-2030), an expert involved in reviewing the National Fluoride Guideline, and a consultant assessing oral health promotion activities. Additionally, she served as a council member for the Malaysian Association of Dental Public Health Specialists (MADPHS) for the 2022-2024 term.
show more »Nik Daliana Nik Farid earned her medical degree from the University of Adelaide, South Australia in 2001. Upon graduation, she joined the Malaysian government service and did house officer training and medical officer work at Kuala Lumpur Hospital. In 2005, she joined the Institute for Public Health where she was appointed as the Main Research Group member for the Third National Health and Morbidity Survey. In 2007, she went on to study at the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur where she received her Master of Public Health (MPH) and Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) degrees. In 2012, she served as the second Medical Officer of Health at Mukah Division Health Office, Sarawak where she covered two major sections namely Epidemiology as well as Maternal and Child Health. Nik Daliana then continued her service as the Head of Primary Health Care Unit at the Hulu Langat District Health Office, Selangor. She left the Ministry of Health in August 2013 to serve the University of Malaya. Nik Daliana is currently a Medical Lecturer in the Department of Social and Peventive Medicine with a specialisation in Public Health. She has a special interest in adolescent health. More specifically her work aims to address the five areas, namely sexual and reproductive health, mental health, nutritional health, physical activity and high risk behaviour. Her contribution to this field include: conducting research on sexual risk behaviour among incarcerated adolescents in welfare institutions; assessing for non-communicable diseases among school-going adolesents and setting up of an adolescent friendly website for quasi experimental study. Also, she is involved in the collection and distribution of literatures pertaining to adolescent's health by a clearinghouse centre in UM. Nik Daliana is presently a member of the Malaysian Association for Adolescent Health (MAAH); Malaysian Clearinghouse Center for Adolescent Health (MyCCAdH); Malaysian Care for Adolescent Project (MyCAP); Malaysian Health and Adolescents Longitudinal Research Study (MyHeARTs) and Ministry of Health Malaysia National Technical Committee for Adolescent Health. Nik Daliana teaches Family Health to postgraduate and undergraduate students. She coordinates one postgraduate course in 2019/20 i.e. Society, Behaviour and Health. A strong advocate of problem-based learning (PBL) technique, Nik Daliana tutors PBL sessions for Stage 1 and 2 University of Malaya Medical Programme (UMMP) students. Administratively, Nik Daliana has coordinated Master of Public Health and Master of Medical Science (Public Health) programmes. Currently, she coordinates the Doctor of Public Health Programme and assists in the coordination of the University of Malaya-Kyoto University Double Degree Programme for Public Health.
