DR. NURSHAFARINA BINTI JASME

Dr. Nurshafarina serves as a senior lecturer in the Department of Building Surveying at Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Housing, Building, and Planning (Building Surveying), a Master’s in Building Technology, and a PhD in Construction Materials and Technology, all conferred by Universiti Sains Malaysia. Before joining Universiti Malaya, Dr. Nurshafarina amassed considerable industry experience with a leading construction chemicals firm, where she specialized in designing sustainable concrete solutions and developing advanced chemical admixtures for both ready-mix and pre-cast concrete applications. Her research portfolio encompasses a breadth of cutting-edge construction technologies, with particular focus on sustainable cementitious materials, concrete admixtures and durability enhancement.

DR. MEOR MOHD FAISAL BIN MEOR ZULKIFLI

Meor Faisal Zulkifli received his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Surrey, UK, and his Ph.D. in Engineering from Imperial College London. He is currently a Senior Lecturer at Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, specializing in power generation and machine learning applications. Meor Faisal Zulkifli has significant industry experience, having served as Project Leader and Principal Researcher at TNB Research, where he led multiple projects focused on improving the efficiency of gas turbine and coal-fired power plants using advanced technologies, including AI and machine learning. During his tenure at TNB Research, he successfully led 5 major projects that collectively amounted to more than RM 10 million. His expertise lies in fuels and combustion, clean energy, power plant operations, and AI integration. Meor Faisal Zulkifli is currently working on projects related to hydrogen/ammonia combustion for industrial gas turbines, coal combustion enhancement using chemical additives, and developing intelligent systems for optimizing power plant operations.

PROF. DR. STEFANIE SHAMILA PILLAI

I am currently a Senior Professor at the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, Universiti Malaya. My main areas of research include Varieties of English, in particular, Malaysian English, as well as language use in educational and in multilingual contexts. I also work on an endangered language, Melaka Portuguese, which I have digitally archived at the Endangered Languages Archive. As part of my interest in indigenous languages and culture, in 2019, I co-convened an exhibition on indigenous languages in Malaysia in conjunction with the International Year of Indigenous Languages. I also recently co-edited a book, Selected Research on Orang Asli Communities. My work and thoughts on endangered languages in general, and more specifically on Melaka Portuguese, have been featured in local and international media. I am a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia and I was the 2013 Ian Gordon Fellow at the School of Linguistics and Applied Language Studies, Victoria University of Wellington. I am currently an Adjunct Professor at Mahidol University in Thailand.
