Ainee is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Malaya. Her current research interests lie in the intersection between law and culture from a historical perspective. Ainee has published several articles in journals including the Queen Mary Journal of Intellectual Property, European Intellectual Property Review and the Hong Kong Law Journal. Her most recent article, ‘Pricing and Profiting in Copyright: An Introduction to Islamic Perspective’, is published in the Queen Mary Journal of Intellectual Property. She was previously attached at the School of Law, Nankai University as a Fellow under the Understanding China Fellowship, and at the Centre for Law & Business, Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore as a postdoctoral fellow. She was also the Deputy Dean (Research) at the Faculty of Law, Universiti Malaya.
show more »Dr. Hanee Farzana is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Chemical Engineering, Universiti Malaya since 2016. Dr. Hanee first join UM in 2012 as an Academic Fellow. Prior to that, she worked as a Safety and Risk Engineer with ExxonMobil Malaysia from 2009 to 2011. She resigned to pursue her studies and a career in academia. Her primary research interests are design and development of novel solvents (e.g., ionic liquid and deep eutectic solvents) for various applications in chemical processes, particularly in the separation of fluid mixtures (liquid-liquid and gas-liquid mixtures), with a special interest on separation and recovery of precious metals, critical minerals and rare earh elements, and in CO2 capture and utilization. Dr. Hanee is also passionate about engineering education and Outcome-Based Education (OBE) implementation. She was the Programme Coordinator for the Bachelor of Chemical Engineering degree program from 2019 to 2021 and was in charge of coordinating accreditation matters related to the program. She is currently the Head of Department for Chemical Engineering until 2027.
show more »Prof. Dr. Loo has conducted fascinating research over the 12 years in The University of Malaya, particularly in Lifelong Machine Learning, Explainable Robotics, Explainable AI and recently in Trustworth & Sustainable AI. His numerous publications on the topic have been well-received and have made a substantial contribution to the Continual Machine Intelligence. He has published more than 200 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers on neurorobotics and machine intelligence. In high-impact journals such as IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems, Neural Networks, Journal of Neural Systems, IEEE Transactions on Cognitive and Developmental Systems, IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics, to name a few. Prof. Loo is also the recipient of JSPS fellowship award from Japan and the Georg Forster Fellowship award from Humboldt Foundation, Germany, Belt and Road Academic Fellowship Scheme, China. He has been the visiting professor of Osaka Metropolitan University, Japan, and King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Thailand and Adjunct Professor in The Harry Butler Institute, Murdoc University. He has applied the developed theory to medical diagnosis, prognosis, and brain-inspired Machine Intelligence, and the potential of his research findings has been successfully demonstrated in various domains, including digital healthcare and cognitive robotics. Chu Kiong has been recognized for his excellence in applied research that has commercial potential based on the 10 patents filed. He is one of the founders of UM spin-off company, UMCH Sdn. Bhd. specializing in AI-enabled connected healthcare solutions. Moreover, he is honoured Malaysia’s Research Star Award 2019 - Research and Innovation Excellence Awards, from the Ministry of Education as one of the most influential researchers in Malaysia. He received the Top Research Scientist Malaysia (TRSM) award 2020 from the Academy of Science Malaysia.
