ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. NAZLI BIN CHE DIN

 NAZLI CHE DIN PhD, P. Tech. , Arch. Tech. (LAM ATS/N1), Eng. Tech. (T16459)  Nazli Che Din is a senior lecturer in the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Built Environment, Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. He has been a faculty member since 2006 and holds a PhD from Oita University, Japan.  His research interests lie in environmental and architectural acoustics with a focus on improving quality strategies and related product realization. He has produced a few publications in ISI journals and over 200 technical publications in other refereed journals, proceedings, technical reports, acoustical letters, books, and book chapters. He currently serves as Editor-in-Chief for the Scopus-indexed Journal of Design and Built Environment (JDBE), the Journal Acoustics and Vibration Research (JAVR) and is a member of the Editorial Board Member for the Web of Science-indexed journal, Acoustical Science and Technology (AST).  Dr. Nazli is a Professional Technologist of the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT), a Registered Architectural Technologist Specialization (Architectural Acoustics) of the Board of Architects Malaysia (LAM), a Registered Engineering Technologist of the Board of Engineering Malaysia (BEM), a founding member and former President (2020-2024) and currently holds a position as Vice Presicent 1 (2024-2026) in Society of Vibration and Acoustics Malaysia (SVAM), a former member Acoustical Society of America (ASA), a member of International Institute Acoustics and Vibration (IIAV), UK, a former member Acoustical Society Japan (ASJ), a former member of Architectural Institute Japan (AIJ) and a graduate member of Board of Engineering Malaysia (BEM). He has held various responsibilities in academic administration, including Deputy Dean of Undergraduate, Deputy Dean of Research & Development, Head of Architecture Department, and Chairman of Council Head of Architectural School Malaysia (COHAS).   Research Interest: Room Acoustics, Building Acoustics, Architectural Acoustics, Environmental Noise, Soundscape, Material Characteristics along with any related fields regarding noise.

ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. ROY ANTHONY ROGERS A/L PETER ROGERS

  Roy Anthony Rogers is a with the Department of Strategic and International Studies, University of Malaya, having joined the department in 2001. Dr Roy Anthony Rogers served as the Deputy Executive Director of the Asia Europe Institute (Research and Development) of the University of Malaya from November 2022 to December 2024. In addition, he served as the Director of the Centre of ASEAN Regionalism Universiti Malaya (CARUM). CARUM aims to enhance research and academic activities related to ASEAN and regionalism. Besides he held the post of Head of the Department of International and Strategic Studies, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences for eight years (2012-2020) and has been reappointed as the Head of Department since 05 May 2025. In March 2026 he has been appointed a Fellow of the Academy of Nationhood by the Prime Minister of Malaysia.   Dr Roy Anthony Rogers has a Master in Strategic and Defence Studies (M.SDS) from the University of Malaya. He has also taught at the Malaysian Armed Forces Staff College (MAFSC) and the Malaysian Defence Armed Forces College (MDAF). In 2012 he obtained Ph.D. from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and his research interest are government and politics of the Central Asian republics and human rights conditions in Xinjiang. His area of specialization includes Political Science, International Relations (Theories of International Relations) and History (China and Central Asia). He has been invited by the Institute of Diplomatic and Foreign Relations (IDFR) Malaysia to lecture at the Diplomatic Training Course for ASEAN Attachment Officers. He is one of the Media Resource Persons for Radio and Television Malaysia (RTM), Sinar Harian and Astro Awani. Received the Excellence Service Award in 2016, 2008 from the University of Malaya, International Visitor (IV) from the US State Department in 2006.

DR. MUMTAZ AINI BINTI ALIVI

Dr. Mumtaz Aini Alivi is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Media and Communication Studies, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Universiti Malaya. She earned her Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) with a double major in (i) Language and Malay Linguistics and (ii) Journalism from Universiti Putra Malaysia. She later obtained her Master of Corporate Communication and Doctor of Philosophy (Mass Communication) from the same university. Her research interests primarily focus on Journalism, Broadcasting, News, Online Media, Political Communication, and Mass Communication. Apart from her academic qualifications, Dr. Mumtaz has extensive experience in journalism, news broadcasting, and media industry management. She was a media practitioner for twenty-two years at Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), a government television station. For almost twenty years, she was attached to the News and Current Affairs Department, where she held multiple roles, including Broadcast Journalist, Newscaster, News Editor, and News Producer. Throughout her career, she was involved in various high-profile assignments, including accompanying the Prime Minister and other national leaders for international news coverage, conducting live news broadcasts from Parliament, and reporting on other significant national events, in addition to daily news coverage. After completing her PhD, Dr. Mumtaz transitioned to a different role at RTM, serving as Assistant Director in the Policy and Research Section. She later assumed the same role in the Strategic Planning Section before being transferred to the Quality Control for Creative Content Unit as an Evaluation Officer. These three divisions operate under the Strategic Development Department, where she contributed for an additional two years before leaving RTM. With over two decades of experience in the media industry—particularly in television news, along with some experience in radio and media management—Dr. Mumtaz has made significant contributions to the field. Her dedication and passion for journalism were recognized when she won the Best Broadcast Journalist Award at the national level in 2001. In addition to her industry experience, Dr. Mumtaz has been appointed by several organizations for various consultancy and evaluation roles. She has served as a panel judge for the prestigious Malaysian Journalism Award, organized by the Malaysia Press Institute (MPI). She was also a panel member for Pitching Evaluation (Private) and a panel member for Screening (Syndicated) for RTM programs. In 2021, Dr. Mumtaz transitioned from media practice to academia, joining the University of Malaya as a Senior Lecturer. She embraced this new career path with a bigger mission—to contribute to nation-building by sharing her knowledge and experience to shape future leaders in journalism and media.
