Dr. Syed Bahari Ramadzan Bin Syed Adnan is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Physics Department, Faculty of Science. He completed his Ph.D. in the subject of Material Science. His research is dedicated to advancing inorganic materials for energy storage applications. He specializes in ceramic electrolytes and electrodes for lithium-ion, sodium-ion, and magnesium-ion batteries, with a particular focus on sustainable materials. His research has garnered significant attention, evidenced by over 556 citations, an h-index of 14, and an i10-index of 24 on Google Scholar (as of 2024). This impact is further solidified by a publication record of 39 research papers, a granted research patent (A method for synthesizing nano ionic sodium zinc silicate"), and the successful acquisition of six research grants (as Principal Investigator) from Universiti Malaya (RU grants) and the Malaysian government (FRGS). Notably, his research on developing a clay-based battery electrolyte also received media coverage in 2023, highlighting its public significance. He has also excelled in research competitions, securing two gold medals in the Material Technology Challenge 7.0 and Pre-University Matriculation Innovation Competition in 2022, and a bronze medal in the Invention, Innovation, and Design Exposition (iiDeX) in 2015 and 2022. Beyond research, he has been actively involved in the society and academic community, serving in roles such as Committee Member in Institute Fizik Malaysia, Member of Malaysian Solid-State Science and Technology as well as in the National STEM Association and Associated Chief Editor in an international STEM journal.His leadership experience, including serving as Deputy Director (Research and Development,2017-2022) and Acting Director in PASUM (2018), as well as participation in numerous department and faculty committees, demonstrates his contributions to the university and the broader community. show more »Dr. Shatrah Othman graduated with Bachelor of Medical Science from the University of Nottingham, UK and obtained her PhD (Molecular Biology and Immunology) and Masters of Science (Molecular Biology) from the Universiti Malaya. She has been with the Department of Molecular Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya since 2005 and is currently an Associate Professor of the Biochemistry courses for Medical, Dental and Biomedical programmes. Her research interest mainly covers molecular and immunologocal studies on dengue, human papillomavirus, BPA, DHODH and cancers. She is an active member of the Drug Design and Development Research Group (DDDRG) since 2006 and has been heavily engaged with projects that involve the discovery of therapeutics, including natural products, synthetic chemical compounds and novel peptides against flaviviruses. In addition, her expertise in molecular biology has also placed her in several collaborative projects with Institute for Medical Research (IMR), University Putra Malaysia, University Teknologi MARA, Malaysia Genome Institute, IPharm Malaysia and Aurigene Discovery Technologies Ltd, India. She has published in many peer-reviewed journals and has presented her research at several national and international conferences. show more »Md Azalanshah Md Syed is an Associate Professor at the Department of Media and Communication Studies, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Malaya. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies (1st class) from University of Malaya; Master of Creative Arts (Screen Production) from Flinders University; and PhD in Communication Studies from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia. In recent years, he served as coordinator for Master of Media Studies Programme (2015-2016), Head of Department (2017-2021), the current Editor-in-Chief, Jurnal Pengajian Media Malaysia (JPMM/MJMS), Deputy Dean of Value Creation and Enterprise (2022-2024), Deputy Dean of Development (2024-2025) and member of Malaysia-Korea Research Centre (2021-2024). He teaches Media, Culture and Society as well as Screen Production with special interest in documentary filmmaking and pre-production research. His documentary project on Mak Yong (2015) and Sultan Abu Bakar of Johore (2006) was funded by FINAS and Ministry of Arts, Cultural and Heritage. His research interests cover the fields of Asian popular culture mainly on soap opera/serial television drama, gender issues and Malay studies. Currently, he involves in ongoing research project on lifestyle, vaping addiction and drug abuse among teenagers in Malaysia. His authored and co-authored articles has appeared in various high impacts academic journals. In 2021, his interdisciplinary research team won silver award and award of merit in Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE2021) with their mobile application, CHD self-care that was designed for Coronary Heart Disease patient’s prescribed rehabilitation. It is a medical humanities project funded by the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) under the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS). Md Azalanshah was appointed as the coordinator of the Journalism on Campus programme (2011-2013) - industry collaboration between the New Straits Times, University of Malaya and Ministry of Higher Education; Syndicated Screening Panel for TV Program Acquisition, Radio Television Malaysia (RTM); Associate Member - The Communications and Multimedia Content Forum; and member of the Research Fund Evaluation Committee of the Ministry of Higher Education (2020-2021). His community involvement was highlighted through an industry+NGO collaboration between the Institut Onn Jaafar, Department of Media and Communication Studies and Astro Awani for the Merdeka63 Campaign #KitajagaMalaysia PSA video series in conjunction with Malaysia's 63rd Independence Day celebration. https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/kitajagamalaysia.
