DR. SHEHDA R. S. ABUISAAC

Abuisaac is an academic, translator, and interpreter currently serving as a lecturer at the University of Malaya. He holds extensive expertise in translation studies, intercultural communication, TESOL, and Arabic-English linguistics. Formerly the head of a translation unit at an English language center, he has designed and taught courses that integrate language, technology, and critical thinking to enhance students’ communicative and analytical skills.  Abuisaac’s research interests span Qur’anic translation, pragma-translation, intercultural rhetoric, discourse analysis of literary texts, and communication within cross-cultural contexts. He also specializes in syntax and semantics, focusing on the interface between structure and meaning across languages. His academic work emphasizes the role of language in shaping understanding, identity, and dialogue across cultures. He has supervised postgraduate research on media language, pragmatics, and cross-cultural communication, and is committed to learner-centered, research-informed teaching practices. His scholarly approach blends theory and practice, fostering both linguistic precision and cultural awareness. Fluent in Arabic and English, and experienced in both academic instruction and professional interpretation,  Abuisaac continues to contribute to the fields of language, translation, andintercutlrual  communication through teaching, research, and scholarly collaboration.

ASSOCIATE PROF. TS. DR. AZNUL QALID BIN MD SABRI

Dr. Aznul Qalid Md Sabri currently holds the position of Associate Professor at the Department of Artificial Intelligence, Faculty of Computer Science & IT, Universiti Malaya. He was previously the Director of UM Centre of Innovation and Enterprise (UMCIE). In that role, he led a center that manages technology transfer, and the commercialization of research output for the entire of Universiti Malaya. Prior to that, he was appointed as the Head for the Department of Artificial Intelligence, Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FCSIT), Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. During his tenure as the department head, he had led the establishment of Malaya AIR, which stands for the Malaya AI Research center. He is a graduate of the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Master in Vision and Robotics (ViBot), a Master program jointly coordinated by three different universities (University of Burgundy, France, University of Girona, Spain and Heriot-Watt University Edinburgh, United Kingdom). He then completed his Master's degree by performing a research internship program at the Commonwealth Scientific Research Organization (CSIRO) in Brisbane, Australia focusing on Medical Imaging. Next, he pursued his PhD on the topic of “Human Action Recognition” (completed with distinction, très honorable), under a program jointly offered by a well-known research institution in France, Mines de Douai (a research lab) and the reputable University of Picardie Jules Verne, Amiens, France. He is an active researcher in the field of Artificial Intelligence, having published in multiple international conferences as well as international journals. His main research interest is in the field of Computer Vision and Machine Learning especially the application of AI in Healthcare. Among the highlight of his research achievement is securing a bilateral collaboration with France through the Malaysia-France- Bilateral Research Collaboration 2021 (MATCH 2021)  grant. Through this grant, he is currently co-supervising a PhD student (with a French counterpart) that has published a paper on the usage of AI for emotion detection and estimation, that has potential usage for evaluating the emotional level of Autistic children. He is also active in research commercialization, having co-founded a UM spin-off company, Fylix Sdn. Bhd. (www.fylix.my). Fylix is an AI-based company that has delivered projects for government agencies such as the Malaysia Government Call Center (MyGCC) as well as large private corporations such as PETRONAS and the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) focusing on intelligent Chatbot solution as well as automating operations via AI. He is also instrumental in moving the faculty's business pod forward, FSKTM Technovations (https://technovations.com.my/), which has delivered multiple projects focused on system development as well as providing training and consultations for local and international companies such as Air Liquide, a French multi-national company.

ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. ANWAR BIN SUHAIMI

Associate Professor Dr. Anwar Suhaimi is a distinguished medical professional and academician with a robust background in rehabilitation medicine. He completed both his undergraduate and postgraduate training at Universiti Malaya. Dr. Suhaimi further honed his expertise in physiatry through advanced training at renowned rehabilitation medicine centers in Australia and Turkey, before returning to serve as a Consultant Rehabilitation Physician at the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Universiti Malaya Medical Center. Dr. Suhaimi spearheaded the establishment of Musculoskeletal and Pain Rehabilitation services in Malaysia, and minimally-invasive pain management programs at UMMC. He has significantly advanced teaching and research in these areas, both nationally and internationally. In response to the global pandemic, he led in expanding COVID-19 rehabilitation services and conducting cutting-edge research on the long-term functional recovery of COVID-19 survivors. He has been actively involved in the expansion of Cardiac Rehabilitation services across Malaysia and beyond. Dr. Suhaimi is the first Malaysian physiatrist with Certified Interventional Pain Sonologist (CIPS), recognized by the World Institute of Pain (WIP). His clinical and research interests are extensive, encompassing cardiac telerehabilitation, heart failure rehabilitation, digital health, back and neck pain, chronic pain management and regenerative therapies. Dr. Suhaimi's contributions to the field of rehabilitation medicine are further highlighted by his active participation in various national and international professional organizations, including the International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ISPRM), the Indonesia Malaysia Regenerative Institute (IMRI) and the Malaysian Association of Rehabilitation Physicians (MARP). In addition to his clinical and academic roles, Dr. Suhaimi has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Gold Medal at PECIPTA 2022 and the Faculty of Medicine Excellent Service Award in 2017. He is also a sought-after speaker at international conferences and workshops, where he shares his expertise on chronic pain management, cardiac rehabilitation, and digital health innovations. Dr. Suhaimi's commitment to advancing rehabilitation medicine is further evidenced by his involvement in numerous research projects, including the development of AI-enabled applications for personalized cardiac rehabilitation and the study of long-term effects of COVID-19 on survivors. His work continues to shape the future of rehabilitation medicine, making him a respected leader in his field both in Malaysia and globally.
