show more »Graduate of University College Dublin (National University Ireland) in 2005, she obtained Intercollegiate MRCS(Belfast) in 2008 and completed Irish Basic Surgical Training (CCBST) in Royal College of Surgeons Ireland (RCSI) 2009. Upon return to Malaysia, she completed Master of Surgery(MSurg) in Universiti Malaya in 2013, whilst serving as trainee lecturer to Universiti Malaya Medical Programme (UMMP). Upon appointment as specialist in 2014, she continued as Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon and senior lecturer in Universiti Malaya Medical Programme (UMMP) and sits in Vetting Committee for Examinations in Surgery Department. She is department representative in UM Faculty of Medicine Visibility Unit ( VICFOM). She is a trainer in the National Conjoint Board of Surgery and is examiner in Postgraduate Master of Surgery(MSurg). She sub-specialised in Colorectal Surgery, training in UM, UKM and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney and leads the pelvic exenteration and advanced GI Malignancy services in the Colorectal Surgery Unit, Department of Surgery UMMC. She is Committee Member and National Trainer for National Colorectal Surgery Fellowship Programme as well as Member of the SUBSPECIALTY SUBCOMMITTEE FOR EDUCATION (SbSC-Edu) to Malaysian Medical Council. She is actively involved in national and international surgical training, where she serves as co-Director of CCrISP Course with College of Surgeons Malaysia and Royal College of Sugeons England and is a NOTSS Course Instructor with Royal College Of Surgeons Edinburgh. She was the local UM liason for coordination of RCS England MRCS examinations. She has a keen interest in advanced colorectal cancer surgery including Pelvic Exenteration, Cytoreductive Surgery and HIPEC and is Malaysian representative in PelvEx Collaborative. She has helped set up and continue the multidisciplinary, multicentre teamwork for extended resections in advanced GI malignancy in Universiti Malaya and in the country.
show more »Norrima Mokhtar received the Bachelor of Engineering (B. Eng) degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Malaya in 2000. After working two years with International Telecommunication Industry with attachment at Echo Broadband GmbH, she managed to secure Panasonic Scholarship which required intensive screening at the national level in 2002. She finished her Master of Engineering at Oita University, Japan under financial support received from Panasonic Scholarship in 2006. Consequently, she was appointed as a lecturer to serve the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Malaya immediately after graduating with her Master of Engineering. As part of her career development, she received SLAB/SLAI scholarship to attain her Ph.D. in 2012. She held several important positions such as Coordinator for Industrial Training, Coordinator for Research Laboratory, Coordinator for EBA-Consortium(Keio University), Coordinator for Nagaoka University of Technology and Coordinator for Manchester Metropolitan University(UK). Dr. Norrima was also the principal investigator for High Impact Research Grant (MOHE) worth of RM 1 million along with Science Fund and CREST grant. She is the author and co-author of more than 50 publications in international journals and proceedings in Sensors, Automation, Image Processing, Human-Computer Interface, Brain-Computer Interface, UAV and Robotics. To date, she had successfully supervised 4 PhD and 4 Master Engineering Science students (by research). She is also active as reviewer for many reputable journals and several international conferences.
