Dr. Amirah Shazana Magli is a Senior Lecturer at Universiti Malaya, specialising in Family Economics and Management. Her research focuses on financial well-being, financial vulnerability and financial literacy, particularly among B40 households in Malaysia. Her scholarly work has been widely published in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals, including Sustainability, PLOS ONE and the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health. She has also authored book chapters addressing financial security, financial stress and the economic resilience of low-income communities. Her scientific interests include financial behaviour, policy management and the role of FinTech in financial inclusion. She has received multiple academic awards, including the Graduate-on-Time (GOT) Award and the Gold Award at the Professional Inventor Competition for her research on financial vulnerability models. She has also been recognised for her innovative teaching methodologies, earning the Silver Award at the i-Succeed: Innovative Learning Nexus Competition. Dr. Amirah Shazana is an active consultant and industry collaborator, contributing to financial literacy initiatives and policy-making aimed at enhancing financial security for vulnerable populations.

  The main focus of   Mohammad Rais’s research are in the areas of Cardiovascular Pharmacology, Natural Products and Drug Discovery. He has published several articles in international peer-reviewed journals and at the same time highlighted the pharmacological actions of  several local medicinal plants  including daun ketum (Mitragyna speciosa), cekur (Kaempferia galanga) and kacip Fatimah (Labisia Pumila).  These studies have been made possible by a series of R & D grants which he  successfully obtained under the Malaysian Development Plans and High Impact Research Grants (UM). To promote a more systematic and collaborative research in natural products in University of Malaya, Rais  helped established the Centre for Natural Products Research and Drug Discovery (CENAR) in 2003.  He has also a keen interest in basic science research, particularly in the area of Vascular Pharmacology.  His current research include investigating the role of novel angiotensin peptides, nitrates and nitrites, flavonoids and several phytochemicals in the improvement of endothelial dysfunctions in hypertension and diabetes.     Selected Publications   Autophagy through stress-activated signals: a cellular self-defence mechanism against MBIC in human breast cancer cell-lines. Prof. Dr. Raymond Ooi is an elected Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia since 2015. He won the Malaysian Toray Science Foundation (MTSF) Science & Technology Award in 2013. He obtained his PhD (dr.rer.nat) from Universitaet Konstanz, Germany in quantum optics and laser cooling of molecules. He then worked as a post-doctoral Research Associate for three years with Marlan O. Scully (a distinguish physicist in quantum coherence). During this time, he was also a Visiting Scientist at Princeton University and Max-Planck Institut fuer Quantenoptik. Then, he joined KAIST as a Research Professor,  Korea University as Assistant Professor and Monash University (Sunway) as Senior Lecturer, before joining Universiti Malaya in 2010. His research has produced a total of more than 160 publications (mainly WoS journal & including conference papers) covering quantum optics, nonlinear molecular spectroscopy and quantum microscopy, statistical physics of Bose-Einstein condensates, interactions, generation and propagation of ultrashort and intense laser pulses. In 2011 he initiated the "Quantum and Laser Science" research center and single-handedly developed the Ultrafast High Intensity Femtosecond Laser and Optics facility in High Impact Research (HIR) building through the MoHE grant. In 2018, he initiated and chaired the first international conference on Quantum and Nonlinear Optics(QNO2018).  Recently he is leading quantum communications research program for the country.
