ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. NOOR AZLIN BINTI YAHYA

Dr. Noor Azlin Yahya is a senior academician at the Department of Restorative Dentistry, Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Malaya. She has held several key leadership roles, including Head of the Dental Materials and Operative Dentistry Disciplines, Coordinator of the Biomaterials & Thermal Characterization Research Laboratories, and Head of the Biomaterials and Technology Research Group. Dr. Noor Azlin’s academic journey began with a prestigious Federal Scholarship for Dentistry in New Zealand, under the Collaborative University of Malaya-University of Otago Programme. She furthered her expertise through postgraduate studies in Restorative Dentistry at the Leeds Dental Institute, University of Leeds, UK. Her research, centred on the synthesis, characterization, and testing of dental materials, has led to numerous ISI publications and the supervision of over 50 undergraduate and postgraduate projects. Dr. Noor Azlin’s academic excellence is recognized globally, with more than 40 awards, including gold medals at prestigious international research expositions in Brussels, Nuremberg, and Geneva. In addition to her academic contributions, Dr. Noor Azlin plays a prominent role in professional associations, serving as President of the IADR Malaysian Section, Vice President of the Malaysian Dental Materials Society (MDEMS), and as a board member of the Asian Network of Dental Materials Societies (ANDeMS). She is also an Adjunct Professor at Universitas Airlangga and a Visiting Professor at Universitas Brawijaya, Indonesia.

PROF. DR. SAJARATULNISAH BINTI OTHMAN

  Dr. Sajar Othman is a Professor of Family Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya.  She chairs the Violence Intervention Committee (VIC), which was established in 2012 to ensure the appropriate management of family violence and other types of interpersonal violence at the University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC). She was once the head of the Department of Research, Development and Innovation and the head of the Department of Primary Care Medicine at UMMC. She was the overall coordinator for the primary care services at UMMC and chaired the UMMC medical inquiry discussion. She teaches primary care medicine, family violence,  communication and self-care to both undergraduate and postgraduate students.   She currently holds the University of Malaya Interdisciplinary Impact Research Grant (IIRG) that looks into ways to support women and children who are involved in family violence.  She is the principal investigator for one of the five subprograms of the Prevent Elder Abuse Initiative (PEACE) under the University of Malaya Grand Challenge Programme, exploring the effect of intensive elder abuse training on primary care doctors’ knowledge, attitude and skills.  Other research areas include adolescent/young adult well-being (sexual assault, healthy relationships, unplanned pregnancy and adolescent violence), end-of-life (advance care planning) and strain among healthcare providers (burnout and mindfulness-based stress reduction). The Ungku Aziz Centre for Development Studies has appointed her as a research fellow to provide input on poverty, ageing and health.   She is a co-chair and a regional representative for the World Family Doctor Association (WONCA) Special Interest Group in Family Violence. She is the vice president for the Malaysian Association of Adolescent Health. Heading a team of multidisciplinary researchers, Sajar was appointed as a consultant by UNICEF to explore and report on children’s rights in Sabah. She is active in advocating against family violence. She is part of the expert panel for the preparation of the Elder Abuse and Neglect Act and clinical management for domestic violence and elder abuse in the Malaysian health system.   She enjoys hiking, photography, and artwork in her free time.

DR. SUZAIMI BINTI JOHARI

Dr. Suzaimi Johari is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Nanotechnology and Catalysis Research Centre (NANOCAT), Universiti Malaya (UM), where she is currently working under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Mohd Rafie Johan and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nader Ghaffari Khaligh. Her research focuses on developing organocatalytic materials with applications in both academia and industry, particularly in the field of green chemistry.  Dr. Suzaimi holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry (Organic Chemistry) from Universiti Malaya (UM), where she conducted research into advanced organocatalysis, developing materials that can facilitate organic reactions with high selectivity and minimal waste. She also holds a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) from the Korea National University of Science and Technology (UST), and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry (BSc. Chem.) from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). Her work aims to create more efficient, environmentally friendly catalytic systems that can help reduce waste and energy consumption in chemical processes, contributing to more sustainable industrial practices.
