PROFESSOR IR. DR. FARAZILA BINTI YUSOF

Dr. Farazila Binti Yusof, or Fara as she is affectionately known was born and raised in the scenic town of Muar, Johor, Dr. Farazila Binti Yusof has carved a distinguished path in the academic and engineering worlds. Known for her profound dedication and expertise, Fara’s journey from a curious village girl in Muar to an influential academic leader is a story of passion, dedication, and perseverance. Dr. Farazila embarked on her academic journey with a Bachelor’s Degree in CAD/M Engineering, followed by a Master of Engineering Science at Universiti Malaya, and culminating in a Doctor of Engineering at Japan. Each step in her educational path fortified her foundation and fueled her commitment to advancing the engineering field. Currently serving as the Executive Director at the Centre of Foundation Studies in Sciences, Universiti Malaya, Dr. Farazila has held several pivotal positions within the university. Prior to her current role, she was the Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department from 2021 to 2022 and the Deputy Dean of Postgraduate Studies at the Faculty of Engineering from 2019 to 2021. Her leadership roles are characterized by visionary guidance and a relentless pursuit of excellence in engineering education and research. Dr. Farazila is a renowned scholar in the fields of welding, joining, and additive manufacturing. Her academic contributions include supervising over 25 PhD candidates and 7 masters students, alongside publishing more than 120 refereed journal articles. Her work not only advances the state of engineering but also mentors the next generation of engineers and researchers. When she is not immersed in her academic and professional endeavors, Dr. Farazila enjoys traveling. Her travels are not just escapes but also another way for her to explore and understand the engineering marvels of the world, blending her personal interests seamlessly with her professional passions. Her vision in the future to become a leading expert in advanced manufacturing technology specifically in additive manufacturing which contributing to efficient, safer and sustainable manufacturing process as well as mentoring the next generation of technology professionals.

ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. NOR'AZZAH BINTI KAMRI

Dr. Nor 'Azzah Kamri is currently a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Shariah and Management, Academy of Islamic Studies, Universiti Malaya. She obtained her Bachelor Degree in Shariah (BSh) in 1999 and Master in Shariah (MSh) in 2002 both from Universiti Malaya. She then received her PhD in Islamic Development Management (2008) from Universiti Sains Malaysia. She specializes in Islamic management and ethics. She teaches both the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes covering many subjects within her related expertise. She has been researching on many topics related to the areas of expertise in management (Islamic management), business ethics (Islamic ethics), halal management (halal industry, Islamic tourism) and Islamic wealth management (zakat, waqf).

PROF. DR. GAN SHIAW SZE @ GAN GIN GIN

Professor Dr Gan Shiaw Sze @ Gan Gin Gin is a Professor in Internal Medicine and Clinical Haematology, Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya. She graduated with honours from University of New South Wales, Australia and joined the Department of Medicine, University of Malaya as a lecturer in 2000 after obtaining her MRCP (UK) qualification. In addition to this, she is also a fellow of Academy of Medicine, fellow of Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh (UK).  Believing in further improving herself, she obtained a Master’s degree with distinction in Clinical Medicine (Leadership & Management) from the University of Newcastle, Australia in 2017. She is currently the head of Department of Medicine. She was the head of the division of clinical haematology in Department of Medicine, (2003 to 2018) and was instrumental in the improvement of haematology daycare services and expanding the haematology clinical services including haematopoietic stem cell transplantation in University Malaya Medical Centre. She has also written many guidelines for haematological procedures for University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) and spearheaded the well-integrated medical daycare area. Professor Gan is active in Malaysian Society of Haematology where she is the President of the society (2022-2026). She previously held the position of vice president ( 2020-2022), honorary secretary (2004 to 2008) and council member (2008-2018). She has played a key role in shaping the training of clinical haematologists in Malaysia. She is the national chair of the Examination Subcommittee, past chairperson and current committee member of clinical haematology training in Malaysia. In addition, she is also one of the members of Malaysian Medical Council Education Specialty Sub-Committee for clinical haematology. Internationally, she is a respected member in the field of haematology. She the executive board member of Asia Pacific Blood and Marrow Transplantation group and one of the steering committee for Asian Myeloma Network (AMN) and Asia Pacific Myeloma & Related Diseases Registry.  Professor Gan has contributed much to the transfer of her expertise and knowledge in her capacity as a national committee/panel member for formulating clinical practice guidelines on management of blood disorders and national policies on stem cell transplantation, which have served as reference nationwide. She is also actively involved in organizing national conferences and workshops for the continuous professional development for trainees and students. She has been invited to evaluate numerous grants, namely FRGS, UMSC C.A.R.E. fund and Newton Fund. At the international level, she has been a reviewer for many ISI (WOS) publications. Her interest in research, especially in genetic polymorphisms associated with haematological related diseases, haematopoietic stem cell transplantation, lymphoma and myeloma has resulted in numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals. Besides this, she is actively involved in multiple international clinical trials.  She has been engaged as speaker, chairperson for many workshops/seminars and conferences. Apart from that, she has also been awarded several times of excellent service awards for her contributions to academic services and clinical services at the University of Malaya.
