She graduated BDS (Malaya) 1991, obtained Fellowship in Dental Surgery, Royal College of Surgeons of England (1998) after an Oral Maxillofacial Residency; trained at University of Hong Kong, obtained MOrth (Hong Kong) 2005, MOrth, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (2006), and FDS RCSEd (2015). She served at Universiti Malaya from 2000, currently Head of AOBRRG research group and past Head of Department of Paediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics for 4 years. She has 21 ISI-indexed and 2 Scopus publications. Having supervised 14 postgraduate and 13 undergraduate research projects to completion, with 7 on-going research projects (3 international), her research scope includes growth modification with functional appliances, dentofacial deformities, clear aligners, sleep apnea, and stem cell. She has various national and international industrial and external research group collaborations. She reviews for 9 international ISI journals and 4 national journals, is panel for Malaysian Dental Council, Professional Qualifying Examination and has reviewed for National Specialist Registration for Orthodontic specialists. She is part of the UMRG grant panel review. She is external examiner for Royal Colleges of England and Glasgow, MOrth Part II and MFDS, Master and PhD postgraduate programs at IIUM, UiTM, Universiti Malaya.
show more »Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Ahmad Khairi ABDUL-WAHAB, Ph.D, MIET, C.Eng. (UK) is currently stationed at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. He started his career at the University of Malaya from 1999 as a Research Assistant in the Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering after graduated from Cardiff University, Wales, United Kingdom in Electrical Electronics Engineering. He has completed his Master Engineering Science Degree's research (M.Eng.Sc.) in the application of neural network as an intelligent process controller for a chemical reactor.Then, he continued his research in Ph.D. in Genetic Algorithm, Fuzzy Logic, and Neurofuzzy in controlling the temperature of a Partially Simulated Exothermic Chemical Reactor (PARS-EX) in the Department of Chemical Engineering and completed his Ph.D. in 2010. Ir. Dr. Ahmad Khairi has initially started his career as a lecturer in 2006 in the Department of Electrical Engineering and currently is serving the Department of Biomedical Engineering as an Associate Professor. Ir. Dr. Ahmad Khairi was the Principle Investigator for a High Impact Research, Cycle 2, 2 subprogram projects leader for University Malaya Research Grant (UMRG) projects, and 1 subprogram in Faculty of Engineering Research Grant. His current research interest are in biomedical modelling and control system, bio-instrumentation, medical devices, and artificial intelligence.
show more »Dr Nik Soffiya is an early career researcher at the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, Universiti Malaya. Her scholarly interests are often situated at the intersection of language and social (in)justice. She is an emerging expert in Critical Discourse Studies with a strong inclination towards interdisciplinary research. Her current projects primarily revolve around discourses related to (violence against) women and children, including topics such as female genital cutting and online misogyny within the Malaysian context. She is also a co-founder of the Alliance of Linguists for Palestine (ALPS) research working group, driving linguistics-based research on the Palestinian resistance and liberation. Beyond her academic endeavours, Dr Nik Soffiya is actively involved in training doctoral candidates for Three Minute Thesis competition. She welcomes supervision request from students who are interested in exploring discourses of social issues through a critical discursive lens.
