MR. MUHD SUFILLAH BIN MOHD SOYONG

Muhd Sufillah bin Mohd Soyong ialah seorang penyarah bahasa di Jabatan Bahasa Arab dan Bahasa-bahasa Timur Tengah di Fakulti Bahasa dan Linguistik, Universiti Malaya. Anak jati negeri Serendah Sekebun Bunga ini berasal dari daerah Kubang Kerian, Kota Bharu. Tanggal 24 Disember 1984 menjadi detik sejarah kelahiran beliau di Hospital Besar Kota Bharu yang diberi nama Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II. Beliau dilahirkan dalam sebuah keluarga yang sederhana dan dibesarkan oleh seorang ayah yang telah berhijrah kepada agama fitrah ini. Mohd Soyong bin Abdullah ataupun nama sebelum memeluk agama yang mulia ini adalah Soo Sow Yong adalah seorang muallaf berbangsa Cina yang telah dilahirkan pada 24 Januari 1947 oleh ibunda yang berasal dari Tanah Besar China. Setelah hidup dan membesar dalam masyarakat Melayu di Kampung Tanjung Gadung, Negeri Sembilan, beliau telah mendalami Islam dan memilih untuk melalui jalan kebenaran ini lalu membuat keputusan untuk berhijrah ke negeri Serambi Mekah. Disana beliau telah tertarik dengan anak gadis Kampung Kedai Piah, Ketereh lalu memutuskan untuk hidup bersama sang gadis dinegeri ini. Hasil perkongsian hidup bersama Siti Fatemah binti Abdullah, beliau dikurniakan 6 cahaya mata, seorang srikandi sulung dan 5 orang pahlawan. Muhd Sufillah adalah anak yang keempat yang berkongsi sifat tanah bersama kakanda sulung. Beliau telah mendapat pendidikan awal sekolah rendah di Sekolah Kebangsaan Kubang Kerian 1, Kota Bharu, Kelantan bermula dari darjah satu sehingga darjah enam. Walaupun bintangnya tidak terlalu menyerlah disekolah ini, tetapi beliau terpilih untuk menjadi pengawas ketika berada didarjah enam. Beliau pernah mewakili sekolah dalam permainan badminton dan mendapat pingat Perak peringkat MSSK negeri Kelantan. pernah jupa terpilih sekali untuk mewakili Kelantan tetapi tewas dipusingan awal menentang negeri pahang ketika itu. Beliau aktif dalam sukan-sukan lain dan pernah mewakili sekolah dalam sukan bola tampar, hoki dan galah panjang juga. Melangkah ke alam remaja, ayahanda tercinta telah memilih untuk memberi pendidikan agama dan bahasa Arab untuk semua anak-anak beliau lalu dihantar untuk meneruskan pelajaran sekolah menengah di SMA(A) Ma'ahad Muhammadi lilbanin, Kota Bharu. Salah sebuah sekolah menengah agama Arab yang terkemuka dinegeri bertuah ini. Maka bermulalah episod baru dalam hidup beliau bermula dengan peringkat peralihan, naik ke tingkatan 1 hinggalah ujian yang paling berat menimpa hidup di tingkatan 2 pada tarikh penuh duka 19 Februari 1999 apabila ayahanda tercinta dijemput mengadap YANG MAHA KUASA selepas diuji dengan penyakit strok buat kali kedua setelah mengalaminya kali pertama pada 1993. Walaupun terpaksa menghadapi ujian hidup yang amat berat ini, ujian PMRU iaitu Penilaian Menengah Rendah Ugama juga perlu dihadapi pada tahun yang sama. Berkat ayahanda dan Bonda yang senantiasa mendoakan insan yang kerdil ini, beliau telah berjaya memperolehi 9A dan 1B. Tidak pernah terdetik dalam hati Bonda tercinta untuk melepaskan anakanda daripada belaian kasih sayang beliau, tetapi takdir tertulis dan anakanda beliau ditawarkan untuk melanjutkan pengajian peringkat sekolah menengah rendah di Kuwait bersama seorang lagi rakan, Mohd Lotfi bin Nor Azmi. Teman dan sahabat yang banyak melalui suka duka bersama kerana terpaksa berjauhan dari keluarga tercinta diusia hingusan lagi. Dihujung bulan September 2000, anak muda ini bersama teman seperjuangan menjejak kaki dibumi Kuwait yang penuh tuah dan berkat untuk meneruskan pembelajaran setahun di peringkat sekolah menengah rendah dan 4 tahun di peringkat menengah tinggi hinggalah tergolong dalam 5 teratas pada tahun akhir peperiksaan Rabi' Thanawi yang sama taraf dengan A level. Sekolah yang senantiasa dalam kenangan ini adalah Ma'ahad Dinie Lilbanin, Qortuba. Rentetan itu, beliau ditawarkan pula biasiswa penuh untuk melanjutkan pelajaran diperingkat sarjana muda di Kuwait Universiti.Disini, beliau memilih Faculty of Arts; Fakulti Sastera dalam bidang sintaksis bahasa Arab. Walaupunhati beliau cenderong kepada Shariah tetapi kerana mengetahui kekurangan diri lalu beliau memilih bidang bahasa Arab sebagai major dan Shari'ah sebagai minor. Pada tahun 2012 beliau berjaya menggenggam segulung ijazah dalam bidang bahasa Arab daripada Universiti Kuwait bahkan telah memperolehi segenggam sijil yang lebih bernilai dan bersejarah dalam hidup beliau setahun sebelum itu pada tarikh keramat, 31 Ogos 2011. Pada tarikh tersebut, beliau mendapat sijil nikah dan bergelar suami kepada Azati binti Ab Aziz.  Dipenghujung tahun 2012 beliau pulang ke tanah air dan telah mengambil sijil IELTS untuk tujuan pekerjaan sebagai nilai tambah dan membuka peluang untuk melanjutkan pelajaran di masa hadapan. Sebelum tahun 2012 melabuhkan tirainya, beliau mendapat tawaran untuk menjadi Guru Bahasa di Akademi Pengajian islam Universiti Malaya cawangan Nilam Puri diperingkat asasi. Beliau berada dibawah Dekan Fakulti Bahasa dan Linguistik tetapi ditempatkan dibawah APIUM, Nilam Puri bermula 2 Januari 2013 sehingga Feb 2017. Setelah itu beliau dipanggil kembali untuk berkhidmat di Fakulti Bahasa dan Linguistik bagi membantu jabatan yang dikasihi, Jabatan Bahasa Arab dan Bahasa-bahasa Timur Tengah kerana ramai staf sedia ada sudah mula bersara. Perkhidmatan beliau di jabatan ini bermula pada bulan Februari 2017 sehinggalah ke hari ini. Perjuangan bersama jabatan ini akan diteruskan sehingga hujung nyawa.

PROF. DR. N.VAIRAVAN A/L N.V.V.E NARAYANAN

Dr Vairavan Narayanan is the Head of Neurosurgical services in University Malaya Medical Centre and the Head of Internationalisation Unit in the Faculty of Medicine, UM. He is a Professor and Consultant Neurosurgeon in University of Malaya. He did his basic medical degree as well as Masters degree in Surgery in the National University of Malaysia (UKM). He completed his Neurosurgical training in Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge in 2012, acquiring the FRCS (Neurosurgery) Fellowship from the Intercollegiate Board of Surgery in UK. He spent a further 6 months in 2012 doing an Honorary Fellowship in Epilepsy in University College London. He was recognised as a Malaysian National Specialist Registry (NSR) gazetted consultant Neurosurgeon in 2013. His clinical interest lies in Neuro Oncology, Epilepsy and Traumatic Brain Injury. He works closely with the adult and paediatric Neurologists in UM and has built up a successful Epilepsy surgery Unit which screens an average of 50 patients a year, of whom about 20 undergo surgery. With his fellow neurosurgeons and neuro-oncologists, he also runs a dedicated Neuro Oncology Unit which provides the highest standards of care for brain tumour patients. His research interests include genetic polymorphisms and mutations in primary and secondary brain tumors, traumatic brain injury and its sequeala, innovations in surgery and training. He has numerous publications in these fields. He is also actively involved in academic teaching and supervision of both undergraduate and post graduate Masters and PhD students. Dr Vairavan is a member of various National and International organisations including the Malaysian Medical Association, Neurosurgical Association of Malaysia, Malaysian Society of Neurosciences, General Medical Council of UK and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. ASRUL MAHJUDDIN RESSANG BIN AMINUDDIN

Associate Professor Dr Asrul is currently in the Department of Architecture at the Faculty of Built Environment, Universiti Malaya,  Kuala Lumpur, and has worked for the past 20 years. Has extensive teaching portfolio included, but is not limited to, teaching responsibilities, academic leadership responsibilities, the design, development, and accreditation of curriculum for both the Bachelor of Science in Architecture and Master of Architecture degrees, participation in research and scholarly activities, and involvement in teaching, learning, and qualified practise. As a result of his extensive background, he has been invited to join the non-executive council member in the board of Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM),  and has been Accreditation Board of Architects Malaysia (LAM). Dr Asrul has served as Deputy Dean of Research and Development. Additionally, he has been appointed as visiting lecturer in Universiti Islam Indonesia in the year 2018 among others and presented as keynote speakers in international conferences organised by Architectural Institutions as well as universities locally and overseas. Academic and Research Career: With a desire to delve deeper into the world of academia, Dr. Asrul pursued higher studies and obtained a Doctorate in Architecture from University of Nottingham UK. Their research work in this area garnered significant attention and acclaim, establishing in the domain on sustainabile architecture and urban habitat. Dr. Asrul's relentless pursuit of excellence extended beyond the confines of their research lab. He actively engaged with students and fellow researchers, fostering a culture of intellectual curiosity and scientific rigor. This dedication to the profession and commitment to academic excellence earned Dr Asrul the "Certificate of Excellence Services" in 2006, 2020, and 2022, and also "Excellent Service Award," 2021, signifying the profound impact he had on the academic community over the years. His academic journey is a testament to the power of dedication, passion, and a commitment to excellence. Their numerous overseas engagement awards and accolades, including the "Diamond Award" British Invention Show", "Certificate of Excellence Services," "Excellent Service Award," and the "Vice Chancellor Price," exemplify their exceptional contributions to academia, research, and the promotion of sustainable development. Dr. Asrul's has sat and contribute as internal/external/chairman of over 15 thesis proposal Defence (PD), Candidature Defence (CD) and also Thesis Seminar, he had scholarly impact on the academic community and the dedication to environmental stewardship will continue to shape a brighter and more sustainable future for new generation of academia. Dr. Asrul has accomplishments and contributions have created significant impacts both locally and internationally. Earlier in May 2022, he took on the role of External Examiner for the Architectural Programme at the International University Kuala Lumpur (IUKL). This position allowed him to apply his expertise to influence the quality and direction of architectural education in one of Malaysia's prominent universities. In August 2022, Dr. Asrul achieved a significant milestone when he became the first Malaysian RU lecturer to deliver a public lecture at the University of Mongolia. His participation in ARCHASIA 2022-Ulanbatar paved the way for international academic exchange and further showcased his thought leadership in the field of architecture. Furthermore Dr. Asrul was appointed as the only Malaysian coordinator for the Indonesian Universities Architectural School Validation at Universitas Islam Indonesia. This esteemed role, entrusted to him by the Board of Architects Malaysia, in October 2022, demonstrates his knowledge and skills in architectural education. Dr. Asrul's organizational skills and academic prominence were further recognized on June 24, 2023, when he was appointed as the sole Malaysian RU Academic staff joint conference coordinator for the World Architectural Forum, scheduled to be held in 2024. The Malaysian Institute of Architects, a highly respected professional body, entrusted him with this important responsibility. His international reach, Dr. Asrul was appointed as the only Malaysian External Examiner and Guest Lecturer for the 2023-2024 academic session at the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Hasanuddin in Sulawesi, Indonesia. This appointment, effective from June 26, 2023, signifies the respect and trust placed in his professional judgment and educational capabilities. Dr. Asrul's career and profound contributions to architecture and education have contribute to Universiti Malaya, his department and the nation. His commitment to fostering international collaboration and promoting excellence in architectural field and education continues to inspire his peers and the next generation of academia.
