Rosila Bee Mohd Hussain is currently an Associate Prof. at the Department of Anthropology and Sociology, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. She completed her PhD from The University of Western Australia. Her areas of research interest include social inequality, identity, youth, cross-cultural study and contemporary social issues (social capital, disability studies, gender and social threats). Her expert opinions on various sociological issues have often been shared on various media platforms like newspapers, talk shows and radio interviews in Malaysia.  She has also completed and secured internal and external grants in the past years in relation to youth, social inequality and identity issues. Among others are UMRG (UM), FRGS (Malaysia), Ungku Aziz Centre for Development Studies and Japan Society for the Promotion Science (JSPS) as Research Collaborator. She has also published more than 50 journal articles, book chapters and proceedings from her research to share.  Her current research work centers on social threats, lifestyle and risk society.

With six years of prior experience in the Department of Southeast Asian Studies within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, I have cultivated an effective, positive, and adaptable teaching style, demonstrating a willingness to extend my efforts beyond conventional classroom settings. Jariah Mohd Jan is Professor in Sociolinguistics at the Department of English Language, Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, Universiti Malaya. She has held several leadership roles at the university as the Deputy Dean of the Institute of Graduate Studies, Deputy Executive Director of the Asia-Europe Institute, Deputy Dean of Research and Development, Deputy Dean of Undergraduate Studies and Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics. She specialises in sociolinguistics, in particular, gender and power in relation to language. Her recent work focuses on pragmatics, leadership discourse and the relevance of gender and ethnicity in the workplace, and academic concerns and needs of children in foster care. She is Programme Leader of the Impact-Oriented Interdisciplinary Research Grant (IIRG) Programme on documenting the language and culture of the Kerinchi community in Kuala Lumpur. She has also published numerous articles in international journals on topics ranging from gendered discourse, through socio-pragmatic aspects of interaction, to discourse and linguistic features of the Mah Meri, Javanese and Kerinchi communities in Malaysia.
