Dr. Ali Fauzi's research interests revolve around various topics, including social media, digital activism, information literacy, and scholarly communications. He has published several articles in reputable journals, such as Library Information Science Research, European Journal of Information Systems, Information Systems Journal, and Information & Management. Apart from his research work, He is actively involved in teaching and administrative duties. Currently, he serves as the program coordinator for the Masters of Information Science Program and supervises masters and PhD students.

Hi, I am an Associate Professor at the Department of Science and Technology Studies (STS), Faculty of Science, Universiti Malaya (UM), and the Founding Director of the Universiti Malaya Sustainable Development Centre (UMSDC) since 2022. I began my academic career at UM after completing my PhD in Science and Technology Policy at SPRU, University of Sussex, in 2009. My educational background includes a BSc in Ecology from the Insitute Biological Sciences, Universiti Malaya and an MSc in Environmental Management and Policy from the International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics (IIIEE), Lund University, Sweden. My research primarily explores the intersection of science, technology, and innovation (STI) with environmental sustainability, particularly within the context of sustainable development and the challenges faced by late-industrializing countries. Over the years, I have expanded my interdisciplinary approach to contribute to Sustainability Science, engaging in areas such as sustainability transitions, education for sustainable development, participatory watershed management, place-based citizen science, and social innovation. I am actively involved in teaching and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students, integrating environmental sciences with STI policy, management, and governance. My commitment to campus sustainability dates back to my student years and continues today. From 2009 to 2013, I served as Deputy Coordinator and later Principal Coordinator of UM’s ecocampus initiative. In 2014, I became the founding Director of UMCARES, the university’s Sustainability and Community Centre at the time (now rebranded as UM's Community Engagement), and played a key role in shaping the UM Campus Sustainability Living Lab Programme during my tenure.  Within the civil society, space I was the founding principal coordinator of UM’s Water Warriors, one of the university’s pioneering greening movements and Living Lab, focusing on participatory watershed conservation. Today, I continue to contribute as an academic volunteer, working alongside dedicated colleagues and students across generations to promote environmental stewardship, within the UM campus and beyond. Additionally, I serve as an advisor to Inspirasi Kawa, a community-based environmental organization in Kuala Selangor, and Sekitar Kita, a university-based social enterprise. I am also a research associate with the social enterprise Urban Biodiversity Initiative (UBI) Beyond Malaysia, I represent UM in regional and international sustainability networks, including the ASEAN University Network on Ecological Education and Culture (AUN-EEC) and the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Malaysia Chapter. Previously, I was a networking fellow under the Universities and Research Council Network on Innovation for Inclusive Development in Southeast Asia (UNIID-SEA) and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Asia Core Programme on Asian-Oriented Integrated Watershed Management. Professor Ir. Dr. Nukman bin Yusoff, being a Professional CAD/CAM Engineer registered under Board of Engineers Malaysia, he has pioneering the Computer Aided Design / Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) field in Malaysia. He acquired his PhD from Loughborough University (field of research: Laser Materials Processing) in 2009 and Master in Engineering Science, MSc. (Mechatronics) from DeMontFort University, Leicester United Kingdom in 1998. He acquired his first degree in CAD/CAM from University of Central England in Birmingham. Since then he has been teaching undergraduate courses in the field of CAD/CAM and Manufacturing and graduate level of teaching in Manufacturing Automation and Control and other field of subjects in Manufacturing. His administration experience in UM shining when he was appointed as Head Of Department of Engineering Design & Manufacture in 2007 till 2009. Since working in UM Nukman was actively doing research in the field of Laser Materials Processing, Human Factors, CAD/CAM, CNC and Manufacturing Process and Management. Being a Principal Researcher in UM he has secured totaling of several millions of grants from internal and international sources which he managed to supervised more than handfull PhD graduates and quite a number of Masters or other post graduates which currently working under his supervision.  His main research interest is in Green Manufacturing and Human Factors. He successfully helps to improvise the lifecycle of Malaysian long traditional boat used by village people in the remote area such as in Ulu Tembeling Pahang. From the lab research work he manages to optimize the use of vegetable oil as lubricants in machining. He also active in Ergonomics research and consultancies with ORCHID, Ergonomics Research Team in UM. Some of his recent research on Human Factors including Driving behavior of ageing drivers and manual lifting research in Malaysian Industries. Current research going on in Mental workload and Mental Fatigue  among Malaysian service sectors in Malaysia under National Institute of Safety and Health research work. He does a lot of research in laser materials processing using Carbon dioxide lasers, excimer lasers and fibre lasers interacted with metals and non-metals. He authored more than sixty quality ISI and Scopus indexed research articles in Manufacturing Processes and Systems including three scientific books which being referred worldwide.
