ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. FOONG CHAN CHOONG

Dr. Foong Chan Choong is an expert in educational psychology, interdisciplinary studies, curriculum design, and psychometric. Dr. Foong, an Associate Professor at the Medical Education and Research Development Unit (MERDU) of the Faculty of Medicine at Universiti Malaya, is an educator and researcher in the field of health professions education. He is a member of the Young Scientist Network – Academy Sciences Malaysia (YSN-ASM) and has been conferred the honor of Fellow of the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER) PSG Regional Institute, India. He holds a first-class honors bachelor's degree in Science with Education from Universiti Malaya, where he also obtained his PhD in Education. Dr. Foong joined MERDU in 2013 and played a crucial role in the development of the university's new undergraduate medical curriculum. He initiated a new curriculum development project at the post-graduate level and in 2016, he developed the Master of Medical Education, which commenced in 2018 and he has been serving as the founding program coordinator until now. He is also responsible for teaching educational psychology, instructional design, and research methodology for the master's program. His proficiency and deep understanding of the development, implementation, and improvement of outcome-based education (OBE) academic programmes have led to his appointment as the Programme Quality Assurance Expert (ProQAE) at Universiti Malaya. In this role, he regularly advises and evaluates accreditation for academic programs as the chairperson of the accreditation panel. Dr. Foong Chan Choong is an educationist of great accomplishment, who has dedicated his career to teaching and research. With a passion for interacting with students and teacher trainees, he finds great satisfaction and motivation in his work. Currently, he is involved in teaching the Postgraduate Diploma of Education (Physics specialisation) at the Faculty of Education. In addition to his role in medical education / health professions education, Dr. Foong has also ventured into the field of engineering education. He is a lifelong learner, constantly seeking out new knowledge and experiences. His current research is multidisciplinary in nature, spanning the medical, dental and other health professions, engineering, physics and music education. Dr. Foong's research interests are diverse, with many of his publications focusing on educational psychology and psychometric. To date, he has published more than 70 publications. He holds several editorial positions, including editor for the Annals of Medicine (Medical Education section) (WoS Journal Citation Report 2024 Quartile 1), executive editor for the Malaysian Journal of Qualitative Research (Scopus indexed), and editorial board member for BMC Medical Education (WoS Journal Citation Report 2024 Quartile 1). Dr. Foong plays an active role in the academic community. At present, he is the executive treasurer for the Qualitative Research Association Malaysia and also serves as an executive committee member for the Malaysian Association of Education in Medical and Health Sciences (MAEMHS). In addition to his academic pursuits, Dr. Foong is also an innovator, with several of his projects receiving recognition at the university, national, and international levels. He is also involved in community service, coaching the debate team at his alma mater, a secondary school in Perak. The school has achieved recognition at the state, national, and international levels.

DR. ZAIRUL NISHAM BIN MUSA

Dr. Zairul Nisham Musa is a senior lecturer at the Department of Estate Management, University of Malaya. He completed his Ph.D. in the area of facilities management, which related to the management of shopping centers. His main research interest is in facilities management, property management, and maintenance management. Other research interests that he's involved in include housing affordability, community well-being, housing income index, and real estate auctions. Outside of academia, he was appointed by MQA as an evaluation panel and has responsibilities to evaluate real estate programs in other institutions. He was also appointed as UM’s internal auditor. He is an examiner for the Board of Valuers, Appraisers, Estate Agents, and Property Managers and the Royal Institute of Surveyors Malaysia. He currently serves as a chief editor of the International Journal of Property Sciences. His teaching includes building technology, fundamentals of real estate valuation, building maintenance & services, facilities management, and research methodology. Currently, he published a book titled Auctioneer As a Profession to Dispose of Real Estate in Malaysia and Measurement of Facilities Management Performance in Ghana's Public Hospital as a co-writer.

ASSOCIATE PROF. TS. DR. AZNUL QALID BIN MD SABRI

Dr. Aznul Qalid Md Sabri currently holds the position of Associate Professor at the Department of Artificial Intelligence, Faculty of Computer Science & IT, Universiti Malaya. He was previously the Director of UM Centre of Innovation and Enterprise (UMCIE). In that role, he led a center that manages technology transfer, and the commercialization of research output for the entire of Universiti Malaya. Prior to that, he was appointed as the Head for the Department of Artificial Intelligence, Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FCSIT), Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. During his tenure as the department head, he had led the establishment of Malaya AIR, which stands for the Malaya AI Research center. He is a graduate of the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Master in Vision and Robotics (ViBot), a Master program jointly coordinated by three different universities (University of Burgundy, France, University of Girona, Spain and Heriot-Watt University Edinburgh, United Kingdom). He then completed his Master's degree by performing a research internship program at the Commonwealth Scientific Research Organization (CSIRO) in Brisbane, Australia focusing on Medical Imaging. Next, he pursued his PhD on the topic of “Human Action Recognition” (completed with distinction, très honorable), under a program jointly offered by a well-known research institution in France, Mines de Douai (a research lab) and the reputable University of Picardie Jules Verne, Amiens, France. He is an active researcher in the field of Artificial Intelligence, having published in multiple international conferences as well as international journals. His main research interest is in the field of Computer Vision and Machine Learning especially the application of AI in Healthcare. Among the highlight of his research achievement is securing a bilateral collaboration with France through the Malaysia-France- Bilateral Research Collaboration 2021 (MATCH 2021)  grant. Through this grant, he is currently co-supervising a PhD student (with a French counterpart) that has published a paper on the usage of AI for emotion detection and estimation, that has potential usage for evaluating the emotional level of Autistic children. He is also active in research commercialization, having co-founded a UM spin-off company, Fylix Sdn. Bhd. (www.fylix.my). Fylix is an AI-based company that has delivered projects for government agencies such as the Malaysia Government Call Center (MyGCC) as well as large private corporations such as PETRONAS and the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) focusing on intelligent Chatbot solution as well as automating operations via AI. He is also instrumental in moving the faculty's business pod forward, FSKTM Technovations (https://technovations.com.my/), which has delivered multiple projects focused on system development as well as providing training and consultations for local and international companies such as Air Liquide, a French multi-national company.
