Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Hafizal Mohd Isa was traines in 4 different countries from bachelor to PhD degrees namely Malaysia, Australia, UK, and Japan. He obtained his PhD at Tohoku University, Japan on Sustainable Architecture related to thermal comfort, energy in buildings and thermal energy storage using phase change material (PCM). After his PhD, he served at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) under Architecture Department, School of Housing, Building and Planning for almost 12 years. In 2020, he was promoted as Associate Professor by USM. At USM, he also served as the coordinator for Mobility Programme for 2 years and then promoted to the Deputy Director at the International Mobility and Collaboration Centre until 2024. In 2024, he has been offered an Associate Professor position at the Faculty of Built Environment, Universiti Malaya and serves until today. Apart from teaching and doing research, in April 2026 he was appointed as the Head for Network and Collaboration and UM Community and Engagement Centre (UMCares) and Head for the Centre for Asean Regionalism UM (CARUM). At present, he is holding few international and external grants and supervising one Postdoctoral, 5 PhD students and 4 Master students. His current WoS and Scopus H-Index is 14 (August 2026).
