Dr. Asiful Habib is a Lecturer at the Universiti Malaya Power & Energy Dedicated Advanced Centre (UM–UMPEDAC), Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. His research expertise spans electrical machine design, renewable energy systems, electric vehicles (EVs), and intelligent condition monitoring. He obtained his PhD from the National University of Malaysia (UKM) in 2024, specialising in the design, simulation, and prototyping of advanced multi-stage, multi-phase, fully coreless axial-flux permanent-magnet (AFPM) generators. His doctoral research culminated in the development of a 1.3 kW laboratory-scale AFPM generator prototype and a patent application.

Dr Habib’s research focuses on high-performance electrical machines, rare-earth-free motor technologies, multi-phase fault-tolerant generator systems, and AI-driven predictive maintenance for electric mobility. He has extensive experience in electromagnetic modelling and simulation using ANSYS Maxwell, prototype development, and experimental performance validation. His broader interests include renewable energy integration, Battery charging, Thermal battery, EV powertrain technologies, contactless sensing, and data-driven diagnostics for improved machine reliability and sustainability.

With research experience at Universiti Malaya and UKM, Dr. Habib has contributed to interdisciplinary laboratory development, student supervision, and hands-on engineering training. He has authored multiple internationally indexed journal articles, IEEE conference papers, and book chapters. Through his research, he aims to advance energy-efficient electrical machines, intelligent electric mobility, and sustainable power and energy technologies.
