Biography | |
Hasmahzaiti Omar has been an Associate Professor in the Institute of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Science, Universiti Malaya since January 2014. She obtained her PhD in Animal Conservation in 2013. She completed her BSc and MSc in Biology Conservation. Her research interests are focused on systematics and molecular evolution of Southeast Asian mammals, particularly on small mammals. Hasmahzaiti is enthusiastic in animal study such as systematics, taxonomy, biogeography, conservation, zoonotic diseases, pests’ control and management, genetic, ecology and any multidisciplinary research related to the interaction with small terrestrial mammals and large mammals. She is involved in research collaboration with industries, the Wildlife Department of Malaysia, the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and also has strong networking with international universities, research centers and museums. Hasmahzaiti is a Committee Member of JSPS program, Member of Laboratory Animal Science Association of Malaysia (LASAM), Committee Member of UM IACUC (Animal Ethics) and now she is a coordinator of Museum Zoology in Universiti Malaya. |
