Biography | |
Wan Nor Liza Mahadi received her BSc(Hons) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and later her PhD in Electrical and Electronics(Electromagnetic) Engineering in 1996, from the University of Wales, Cardiff, United Kingdom. She is an Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Malaya. She also currently serves as Head of Electromagnetic Radiation and Devices (EMRD) Research group. She has published a few books and has authored over a hundred journal articles and chapters in books. She has supervised many postgraduate (masters & PhDs) candidates to completion. Leading more than twenty research grants, she also has facilitated many seminars and workshops. Her main areas of research are antenna design, characterization and applications, magnetic materials and its applications, the study of Electromagnetic Field (EMF) exposure on public and environments and its mitigations. She has won several invention & innovation awards on implantable antenna design, WBAN antenna design, STEM teaching innovation, and technology & social innovation award for portable design for the disabled. She actively explores ways in empowering and enriching lives through findings in Science and Technology. This includes leading many stages of initiatives in modules and programs, in order to nurture and culture the mindset towards life-long and life-wide learning. Her other keen interest is in assisting others to realize their full potential. She is a certified coach, started her coaching activities years ago to enrich and facilitate others to deal with self and career development. She was the Head of Coaching and Mentoring unit in the University of Malaya during 2013 and 2014 that look into facilitating and empowering people through coaching workshops and training. She involves in a range of coaching activities, from individual and group coaching, to seminars and workshops. Associate Professor Dr Wan Nor Liza is also a Chartered Engineer (UK) and member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) UK , the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) US, International Committee on Electromagnetic Safety(IEEE-ICES) US and Board of Engineers Malaysia(BEM). She was seconded as a CEO of Terengganu Science & Creativity Center (TSCC) from September 2016 to February 2019, where she structured and developed TSCC to become the hub of science, technology, life- long learning and creativity for the east coast region of Malaysia.
