Biography | |
Rohana Mahmud is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, Universiti Malaya (UM), Malaysia. She obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom. She has been teaching various courses in AI and Computer Sciences disciplines. As her expertise is in Natural Language Processing (NLP), Expert Systems, Machine Learning, and Principles of Data Science, hence, she had carried out a few collaborative research with experts from different fields such as Language and Linguistics, Bahasa Melayu, Al Quran, and Hadith, Tulisan Jawi, and industries such as MIMOS Bhd., Megasap Sdn. Bhd. and Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP). She is currently the Chairman of the Technical Committee (TC01) for Multilingual Information Technology, Standard Malaysia, and one of the Subject Matter Experts for the Jawatankuasa Kamus Kecerdasam Buatan, Bahagian Peristilahan dan Leksikologi, DBP. She is a Certified Software Tester (Foundation Level) of the Malaysian Software Tester Board (MSTB) and also a Qualified Trainer (L1) and Practitioner (L3) for the Malaysian Innovation Association, MyTRIZ. She has been appointed as the Deputy Director for the Centre of Internships Training and Academic Enrichment (CITrA, UM) and was involved with the initial development of the Malaya Student Future Readiness Inventory (MSFRI) project. She was also UM Representative for the MySTEM Ambassador Program and received a Professional Certificate for Entrepreneurship for Educators (ProCEED). Dr. Rohana has also known as an active academician in student affairs matters and served more than ten years as the Master and Fellow of two different UM Residential Colleges’, namely Bestari and Dayasari Colleges. She was the Associate Member of the Student Soft-Skills (SERU) center and the University Women Association (UWA) Committee Members. She also gained a Master's Certificate in Leadership after successfully completing a Women's Leadership Course for the Institutes of Higher Learning from Tun Fatimah Hashim's Women Leadership Centre, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
