Dr. M. A. Motalib Hossain is working as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Nanotechnology & Catalysis Research Centre (NANOCAT), a potential National HICOE and UM COE. Earlier, he was appointed as Assistant professor (visiting) in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology' at Bangladesh University of Health Sciences (sponsored by the Bangladesh Diabetic Association) Dhaka, Bangladesh from February 2018 to May 2018. Previously, he served as Research Assistant in Nanotechnology & Catalysis Research Centre (NANOCAT), University Malaya from 19/09/2013 to 06/12/2017. He started his career in the Pharmaceutical company and gained experience in Quality Control for 13 years as a Senior Executive. He received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Biology from the University of Malaya in 2017, whilst M. Sc. And B. Sc. (Honours) in Biochemistry from University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. His expertise is in the area of conventional and real-time multiplex PCR, design of DNA biomarkers, Electrochemical DNA Biosensors, Halal authentication, Food security and safety as well as the synthesis of Nanomaterials. Dr. Hossain is currently supervising five Ph.D. students. He has received a Bronze Award on Halal Authentication Tools in Invention, Innovation & Design Exposition 2018 held on 24-28 September 2018 at Dewan Agung Tuanku Canselor (DATC) Universiti Teknologi Mara, Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia. He also received the Best Poster Presentation Award at International Conference on Applications of Physics, Chemistry & Engineering Sciences 2020 held on January 09-10, 2020, at Taman Botani Rimba Ilmu, Institut Sains Biologi, Fakulti Sains, University of Malaya, 50603 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. His work has been made a patent (Patent file no. PI 2016701716 and reference PIC/P/777/16/UM/Eaqub/1139-DG) and one of his articles was selected for international science news (ACS News PressPac: Aug 10, 2016).
