DR. NOOR AQSA NABILA BINTI MAT ISA

Dr. Aqsa Isa is a Senior Lecturer based in the Department of English Language, Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, Universiti Malaya (UM), Malaysia and Research Associate at Rabdan Academy, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).Her teaching and scholarly interests are focused on the areas of Critical Discourse Studies, Social Semiotics and Multimodality. She is interested in multidisciplinary work and research involving (violent) extremism and (de) radicalisation, especially on social media, as well as religion and politics, among others. As a linguist, she has looked at various violent extremist and far right propaganda materials, exploring and understanding the ideologies and linguistic strategies used to garner support and attract potential followers. She is also exploring the recruitment, radicalisation as well as the reintegration processes, in which she has worked closely with former detainees, their family members and various local and international agencies. In addition, Dr. Aqsa has been invited as a speaker and resource person in various Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (PCVE) programmes by agencies such as the Southeast Asia Regional Centre for Counter-Terrorism (SEARCCT), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs (Security Division), Malaysian public universities, civil society organisations, the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the SEA Women Peacebuilders Network.  Currently, she is also the faculty's student mobility coordinator. Her main responsibilities include designing and implementing student mobility programs, promoting and recruiting students, providing support throughout the mobility experience, coordinating communication, and evaluating program effectiveness. Her goal is to enhance students' international experiences, promote cultural exchange, and contribute to their personal and academic development. DR. CHONG YONG YEE

Yong Yee is a passionate social scientist dedicated to exploring the transformative power of sport and its impact on society. She is particularly interested in understanding the experiences of marginalized and underrepresented groups, such as women, refugees, and people with disabilities. Her research seeks to identify and address the challenges that these groups face in participating in sport, as well as to promote equitable and inclusive practices. Yong Yee's current research projects include capacity building for youth-led refugees' sport events, the future of sport and sustainability, and educating Paralympics Sports volunteers using the design thinking approach. These projects reflect her commitment to using research to inform and improve sport policy and practice.

ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. HO HUI LING

      Dr. Ho Hui Ling is a Associate Professor in the Department of History at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. She received her Ph.D. from University of Malaya in 2003. Dr. Ho’s specialization is the History of Malaysia from the colonial period to modern period. She has conducted numerous studies on the history of Emergency era and communist movements in Malaya/Malaysia, socioeconomic development in Malaysia, ethnic relations and the development of plural societies in Malaysia, as well as various aspects of the history of Sarawak and Sabah. The findings of her research have been published in the form of books, chapters in books, journal articles and also contained in research reports and conference papers. Dr. Ho was also appointed as a panel of reference experts on secondary and primary school’s History curriculum and textbook by the Ministry of Education Malaysia (Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia/KPM) for 2017-2022 and 2023-2027. She was also involved in reviewing History textbooks for secondary and primary school published by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP).
