Professor Dr Chin Ai-Vyrn is a consultant Geriatrician in UMMC and UMSC. He trained in Dublin, Ireland and was the lead Clinical and Research Fellow at Mercer's Institute for Research in Ageing and Lecturer in Gerontology, Trinity College, Dublin prior to returning to Malaysia. Dr Chin has a Doctorate in Medicine from Trinity College, Dublin and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh. He is also is a founder member of the Ageing and Age Associated Disorders Research Group in University Malaya as well as the Malaysian Society of Geriatric Medicine. He remains committed to the development of clinical services, research and education of Geriatric Medicine in Malaysia.
show more »After serving the government for 31 years, Ar. Zuraina Leily Awalludin retired on 31 August 2015 where her last posting was at the Architectural Branch, Public Works Department (PWD) Malaysia. Amongst her duties then, were heading several design teams providing architectural, interior design and building conservation services for Government funded projects. She is presently appointed as an Associate Professor (Industry) at the Faculty of Built Environment in University Malaya where she also lectures students in the Masters programme. Further to that, she has currently two architectural practices that is as the director of Acasys Design and Environmental Architects Sdn. Bhd (ADEA), a body corporate practice and the Principal of Zuraina Leily Architect, a sole proprietor practice. For the past few years, she had been appointed to serve as a Board Member and as Registrar where she is actively involved in several Committees at the Board of Architects Malaysia. Presently, she holds a few post that is; Honorary Secretary to the Council of Architectural Accreditation for Education Malaysia (CAAEM); Committee Member of the Monitoring Committee for APEC Architect Project as well as for ASEAN Architect. In the international level, she had been involved and represented the profession in many international missions and negotiations especially in the ASEAN region. She played a key role in drafting the Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) for the ASEAN Member States on Architectural Services. In the year 2009 to 2011, she held the post of Honorary Secretary for the Inaugral ASEAN Architect Council. Besides her practice as an Architect and involvement in lecturing students, she is also an accredited Conservator registered with the National Heritage Department Malaysia. In 2016 and 2018, she was elected as Council Member for International Council Of Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) of Malaysia, which champions the protection of heritage buildings and sites.
show more »Haslina Muhamad earned her Bachelor of Science degree (Biology & Psychology) from Deakin University, Australia. Upon graduation, she joined University Malaya as a tutor. In 2006, she went on to study at the Universiti Malaya where she received her Master of Arts (Psychology) degree. In 2007, she served as a lecturer at the Department of Anthropology & Sociology, Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences, University Malaya. In 2009, she pursued her PhD in Psychology at Monash University, Australia. Haslina is currently a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Anthropology & Sociology with a specialisation in adolescent psychology. She has a special interest in adolescents’ personalities, health and well-being. More specifically her work aims to address the four areas, namely personality, mental health, well-being and high-risk behaviour among adolescents. Her contribution to this field includes: conducting research on mental health behaviour among adolescents and assessing the personality and mental health level among college students. During the past year, Haslina has participated in several community projects such as conducting a mini-workshop on well-being for youths attending Institut Kemahiran Belia Negara (IKBN). Haslina is presently a member of the Asian Psychological Association and American Psychological Association. Haslina teaches psychology courses to postgraduate and undergraduate students. Administratively, Haslina currently was the Head of the Department of Anthropology & Sociology, University Malaya from 2017 to 2021.
