Mohd Fakhrul Zamani Bin Abdul Kadir was born in Klang town, Malaysia. He received Bachelor's Degree in Computational and Electronics Physics from the University of Malaya, Malaysia in 2006. He immediately joined Texas Instruments (M) Sdn. Bhd. as a manufacturing executive before pursuing his MSc. studies in 2007. He has received an award for completing his Ph.D in less than 3 years from the University of Malaya in 2010. He was a Senior Lecturer at the Physics Division, Centre for Foundation Studies in Science, University of Malaya from 2010 to 2016. Since 2016, he has been promoted as an Associate Professor. He was appointed as the Deputy Director (Academic and Development) of Centre for Foundation Studies in Science from November 2014 to July 2016. He is now currently serving Physics Department, Faculty of Science. Since joining the University of Malaya, he has received funding and grants of nearly RM 1.27 Million, published 139 journal papers in ISI-indexed with 42 H index and successfully supervised to completion of 4 PhD, 1 MPhil and 1 MEng. Degree by research candidates. He is an active reviewer for numerous high quality journals, which include publishers from Springer and Elsevier. Since 2010, he has been the Head of Advanced Materials Lab in UM. During his postgrad studies, he has won several prestigious awards from within and outside the country. Among the awards that are the pride of university's and country is the Prize Ministry of Education and Science of The Russian Federation and Silver Medal at the International Trade Fair 2007 (Iena) Nuremberg, Germany which was awarded by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Government. The excellence in his research continues while serving the university as academician where his research work has gained international attention once again when he was awarded the Exclusive 'Physica Scripta Highlights of 2013' Collection for his research entitled "Electrical analysis of amorphous corn starch-based polymer electrolyte membranes doped with LiI". He is listed as one of the World’s top 2 % scientist for the year of 2019 and 2022 by Stanford University.

Her performances in Arizona, USA, and at the Conservatorio de las Rosas in Morelia, Mexico, received outstanding newspaper reviews. One reviewer praised her as a pianist “who has the power to communicate her emotions intensely,” while another remarked that her concert left the audience “weeping with gratitude and admiration.” Chiew Hwa’s notable solo performances include the University of Arizona Pianists on Tour in the U.S. and Mexico, the Gijón International Piano Festival in Spain, recitals in Kuala Lumpur, and a concerto performance with the Missouri State University Symphony Orchestra. She has appeared as a guest artist at various universities, including Valley City State University, Missouri State University, the University of Malaya, and Conservatorio de las Rosas, among others. Additionally, she has been invited to present masterclasses at several institutions. Chiew Hwa has received numerous awards throughout her career. She won first place at the 2009 Missouri Music Teachers Association state piano competition and was selected as the alternate winner of the Music Teachers National Association Young Artist Competition (State-2009). In 2014, she secured First Prize and the Audience Prize at the Fifth Annual Lois Trester Piano Competition. Her winning performance was later broadcast on the local NPR station KUAT-FM in Tucson, Arizona. In addition to her performance achievements, she is an active adjudicator in various piano competitions across Malaysia. Chiew Hwa is recognized for her innovative music and movement sessions, tailored for diverse audiences, including dementia patients, senior citizens, children, and high school bands. Her research on music and movement has been featured in both local and international publications, underscoring her commitment to advancing this field. Dr. Poon is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Malaya and serves as a music examiner for Trinity College London. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance from the University of Arizona, where she studied under Professor Tannis Gibson. She also earned the Applied Credential in Dalcroze Education from the Longy School of Music in Boston.
show more »Dr Shamsul became a member of the Universiti Malaya faculty in 2017, where he works as an academic lecturer in the Department of Pharmacology within the Faculty of Medicine. Before that, during his two years as a postdoctoral fellow, he focused on molecular studies related to liver diseases, including drug-induced liver injury and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. He holds multiple roles within the department, including Head of the Pharmacogenomics Laboratory, Quality Manager, Year-2 and Postgraduates Pharmacology Course Coordinator for dental programme, and Academic Advisor for postgraduate students. Additionally, he is a member of the faculty's Postgraduates Committee (JKITF) and Internationalisation Unit (IUFOM). Also, he holds the position of a contributing Associate Editor for the Malaysian Applied Biology Journal. He is an external examiner of a Pharmacy course programme for Kolej Universiti Antarabangsa MAIWP (UCMI). He is also the Chair and founder of the Malaysia-Taiwan Forum for Evidenced-Based Medicine, and maintains an active role as an associate member of the South East Asian Pharmacogenomics Network (SEAPharm). He is currently overseeing the progress of three PhD candidates and has successfully graduated three PhD and four master's degree graduates. He has a strong focus on clinical and molecular hepatology, pharmacogenomics, and other omics-related research, with an impressive track record of over 40 publications.
