Dr Koh Peng Soon graduated in 2002 with MBBS from the International Medical University. He first gained experience in Surgery working as a medical officer in the Department of Surgery, Hospital Taiping right after internship where he obtained his Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MRCSEd), UK in 2005. He joined University of Malaya in 2006 for postgraduate training and graduated with Masters of Surgery (MSurg) in 2010. He worked as a General Surgeon in Hospital Sungai Buloh after graduation before rejoining University of Malaya as a Senior Lecturer and Clinical Specialist in 2011 for sub-specialty training and his interest in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery. In October 2013 to September 2014, he spent a year as a Fellow and Honorary Clinical Associate at the Division of Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Surgery and Liver Transplantation, Queen Mary Hospital, The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong which is world renowned. His interest in HPB field involves HPB malignancies, minimal invasive surgery (MIS) and liver transplantation. Besides clinical duties, he is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching as well as research and already has several publications to his name. He received his promotion to Associate Professorship in early 2019 and was appointed the Head of Division of General Surgery from 2023 to 2025. He is currently the Head of HPB Unit & Liver Transplantation and work as a Consultant Surgeon in the Department of Surgery, University of Malaya Medical Centre. At a national level, he is currently the Head of the National Conjoint Board of Masters of Surgery Programme from 2026 to 2027. He is also committee member and a lifetime member of the local national HPB Chapter, MyHPBS and currently holds the position of the Vice-President. He also serves as a committee member of ASEAN LHC and a constant member in A-PHPBA and IHPBA.
show more »Dr. Chua Kah Ooi is now a senior lecturer in the Centre for Research in Biotechnology for Agriculture (CEBAR), Universiti Malaya. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Ph.D. in Molecular Microbiology from the same university. He was awarded the MyBRAIN15 (MyPhD) Scholarship Award from the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) in 2016 for his Ph.D. study. In year 2021, he was appointed as a postdoctoral research fellow in CEBAR. His research interest focuses on bacterial genomics and microbiome study on a variety of biological and environmental samples. He has experience in taxonomic characterization of novel bacterial species including symbionts of insects and environmental bacteria. Currently, he is committed to research on bioinformatics analysis of plant and animal organelle genomes, plant-arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal interaction and halotolerant plant growth promoting rhizobacteria from Malaysian mangroves.
show more »Dr. Muhammad Ridha bin Ali Huddin merupakan Pensyarah Kanan di Jabatan Bahasa Arab dan Bahasa-bahasa Timur Tengah, Fakulti Bahasa dan Linguistik, Universiti Malaya. Beliau juga ialah bapa kepada lima orang anak. Beliau mendapat pendidikan awal di Sekolah Kebangsaan Jawi, Pulau Pinang. Beliau kemudian menamatkan persekolahan di SMK Seri Nibong, Pulau Pinang. Beliau menyambung pengajian di Darul Quran JAKIM bagi peringkat Diploma Tahfiz al-Quran dan al-Qiraat (Syariah) pada 2009-2012. Kemudian, bagi Ijazah Sarjana Muda pula, beliau meneruskan pengajian di Universiti Putra Malaysia (pengkhususan bahasa Arab, minor bahasa Inggeris) di bawah biasiswa Skim Pembiayaan Hafiz JAKIM. Beliau berjaya menamatkan pengajian Sarjana Muda dalam masa 2 tahun setengah sahaja iaitu pada akhir 2012 hingga awal 2015. Beliau meneruskan pengajian bagi peringkat Sarjana (Masters) di Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia (UIAM) dalam bidang Linguistik Arab di bawah biasiswa KPT-Mybrain. Tesis master beliau adalah dalam bidang Fonetik dan Fonologi Arab. Beliau berjaya bergraduat dalam masanya (graduate on time) iaitu pada tahun 2017. Pada tahun 2018, beliau berjaya ditawarkan fellowship berprestij tinggi iaitu Skim Latihan Akademik Bumiputera oleh Universiti Malaya serta mendapat tajaan penuh daripada Kementerian Pendidikan Tinggi bagi pengajian Ijazah Doktor Falsafah (Ph.D) di Universiti Malaya dalam bidang Fonetik dan Fonologi (Arab), serta beliau berjaya menamatkan kedoktorannya secara rasmi pada awal tahun 2024. Dr. Muhammad Ridha juga merupakan pemegang tauliah mengajar al-Quran Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (MAIWP) bagi kategori dewasa dan kanak-kanak sejak tahun 2014. Selain itu, beliau juga merupakan Perunding Hartanah berdaftar dengan Lembaga Penilai, Pentaksir, Ejen Harta Tanah Malaysia (LPPEH) serta mempunyai 4 tahun pengalaman dalam industri hartanah di bawah agensi hartanah PutraHomes Realty, Putrajaya. Beliau juga merupakan Timbalan Pengerusi di KAFA Al-Amin Putrajaya (institusi pendidikan swasta) sejak tahun 2015 hingga kini. Beliau kini sedang aktif berkolaborasi bersama Persatuan Berdaftar/NGO dalam beberapa penyelidikan berkaitan neurolinguistik dan psikolinguistik dalam kalangan kanak-kanak berkeperluan khas (Disleksia) dari aspek literasi bahasa Arab, memori kerja (working memory) dan pemprosesan fonologi berbantukan peralatan klinikal seperti Electroencephalography (EEG) dan functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI).
