Prof Dr Siti Nursheena is a parasitologist in the Institute of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Science. Her expert area is in the field of mammalian helminthology and molecular parasitology to which she obtained her PhD from Royal Holloway, University of London, UK. Her research interests covers host-parasite interactions and epidemiology of a wide range of zoonotic parasites from protozoans, helminth and ectoparasites especially from stray animals, rodents and more recently human. Presently, she is the team leader for an epidemiological investigation into the incidence of parasitic infections among vulnerable community particularly among migrant workers, refugees and the urban poor. Dr Sheena also actively contributes to the Malaysian Society of Parasitology and Tropical Medicine, and was the vice president in 2016-2018 and president in 2018-2020. She contributes her time also on  2 editorial boards; the Tropical Biomedicine (Q3) as chief-in-editor and the editorial board member for Parasitology (Q1).

Dr. Asiful Habib is a dedicated researcher specializing in electrical machine design, renewable energy, and electric vehicles. He is currently serving as a Lecturer at the Universiti Malaya Power & Energy Dedicated Advanced Centre (UMPEDAC), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He obtained his PhD in 2024 from the National University of Malaysia (UKM), where his research focused on the design and prototyping of a multi-stage, multi-phase, fully coreless axial-flux permanent-magnet (AFPM) generator. His work aimed to enhance the power density of electrical machines by leveraging the coreless concept and overcoming challenges associated with non-ferromagnetic materials. During his doctoral studies, he successfully designed and prototyped a 1.3 kW AFPM generator optimized for renewable energy applications, which led to a patent application for its innovative design. Prior to his doctoral research, Dr. Habib completed his M.Phil. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Malaya in 2020. He gained extensive research experience as a Research Assistant at both UKM and UMPEDAC, where he contributed to the development of a smart transportation system laboratory. This facility integrated renewable energy sources (wind and solar), lightweight generators, and electric vehicle (EV) battery thermal management systems, advancing sustainable transportation technologies. Dr. Habib is highly skilled in Ansys Maxwell-based simulations for motor and generator applications in EVs and wind energy systems, complemented by practical expertise in real-time hardware performance evaluation. His research also covers power system resilience, with a particular focus on diagnosing and mitigating electrical machine winding faults through multi-phase generator modeling and prototyping. Beyond his research, he is actively engaged in academic training and mentoring, conducting workshops and guiding undergraduate students in projects such as EV battery cooling systems, which resulted in successful working prototypes. Dr. Habib has authored multiple ISI-indexed journal articles, IEEE conference papers, book chapters in the fields of electrical power systems, renewable energy, and machine design. His contributions significantly advance sustainable energy solutions, and he remains committed to pioneering innovations in electrical machines and renewable energy systems.

I am an associate professor at the Department of Asian and European Languages, Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, University of Malaya. Much of my research focuses on the psychological and emotional dimensions of learning additional languages. My broader academic interests include quantitative methods in applied linguistics and natural language processing. I am also increasingly interested in the study of the human sensorium—particularly how sensory perceptions, such as olfaction, intersect with language, cognition, and emotion. In my research on language learning, one of the directions I pursue is exploring how language learners perceive and imagine the cultures of their target language communities. This interest led to the publication of my book, Stereotypes and Language Learning Motivation: A Study of L2 Learners of Asian Languages (Routledge, 2020). I actively engage with theoretical perspectives and seek innovative methodologies that help explain the psychological phenomena involved in learning a new language. This line of inquiry resulted in my most recent book, Emotions and Affect in Language Learning: A Photovoice Study of Learning in Lockdown (Routledge, 2025). In this work, Lev Vygotsky’s concept of perezhivanie provides the theoretical grounding for exploring language learners’ lived experiences during the COVID-19 lockdown. My work has appeared in journals such as Applied Linguistics, Journal of Psycholinguistic Research, Journal of Multilingual and Multicultural Development, System, and Journal of English for Academic Purposes.
