MISS SITI AISYA BINTI ABDUL RAHMAN

Aisya is a former Legal Adviser at the International Committee for the Red Cross (ICRC) and Head of Law Division at Malaysia’s national human rights institution, the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (SUHAKAM). For over a decade, she has worked with diverse stakeholders at all levels to support and promote respect for the rule of law, internationally and domestically. Aisya has provided technical guidance and support to decisionmakers and policymakers in many areas of international humanitarian and human rights law. She has actively contributed to regional and national implementing law processes and projects, including related to translation of the Geneva Conventions, children in migration protection, sexual harassment and gender equality. She has also facilitated high-level humanitarian dialogues; delivered humanitarian assistance to detainees; and developed specialised training tools and info materials. She also assisted rule of law, human rights, transitional justice, and post-conflict development projects in/on Colombia, Ukraine, Scotland, and South Sudan. Within her first four years of practice at the Malaysian Bar, Aisya appeared as counsel in over 15 reported cases at Malaysia’s highest courts, including a landmark workplace sexual harassment case.

ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. THARANI LOGANATHAN

Tharani Loganathan is a Public Health Medical Specialist with a specialization in Health Economics, and a Medical Lecturer at the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya. She is the course coordinator for the Global Health, Global Health Leadership and Law and Health modules in the Masters in Public Health (MPH) programme. She has 17 years of working experience with the Ministry of Health, Malaysia in diverse areas, notably in Primary Health Care. Dr Tharani has a medical degree from Universiti Sains Malaysia, and an MPH and DrPH from University Malaya. For her doctoral degree, Tharani conducted a comprehensive economic evaluation of rotavirus vaccines beyond cost-effectiveness, to include benefits of vaccination in improving equity and financial risk protection to inform its inclusion into the national immunization program Malaysia. She is particularly interested in health systems and policy research towards advancing health system goals of achieving Universal Health Coverage. Dr Tharani has written and spoken extensively on migrant access to healthcare, including the healthcare financing and social protection policies for migrant workers in Malaysia. Currently, Dr Tharani is investigating the provisions for educational access for non-citizen children in Malaysia. Tharani Loganathan is an Atlantic Fellow for Health Equity in South East Asia.

DR. NUR MARDHIYAH BINTI AZIZ

Dr Nur Mardhiyah Aziz is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Quantity Surveying, Faculty of Built Environment, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. She graduated with BSc (Housing, Building and Planning) (Quantity Surveying) (Hons.) in 2003, and received MSc Facilities Management from Universiti Teknologi MARA in 2008. She graduated with a PhD from the University of Malaya in 2013 in the area of IT Management in Construction Industry. She is also a Provisional Quantity Surveyor with the Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia (BQSM) and a graduate member of Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia. Since her appointment at the University of Malaya, she had been teaching various subjects such as IT in construction, Integrated Project, Research Methodology and Introduction to Construction Industry. She had published books and also journal articles in various local and international journals. Her research interests were mainly IT in construction, knowledge management and project management.
