For over 15 years, Aisya Abdul Rahman has worked with diverse stakeholders to promote respect for the rule of law at international and national levels. Through her previous advisory roles, including at the International Committee for the Red Cross and the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia, Aisya has guided and supported decisionmakers, policymakers and practitioners in understanding and implementing international humanitarian and human rights law. In particular, she has actively contributed to regional and national lawmaking and policymaking processes; coordinated translation of relevant treaties to national language and contexts; facilitated high-level humanitarian dialogues; developed localised informational tools and materials; and delivered humanitarian assistance in places of detention. She has also assisted rule of law, human rights and development projects including in/on Colombia, Ukraine, Scotland, and South Sudan. During her four-year practice at the Malaysian Bar, Aisya acted as counsel in over 15 reported cases at Malaysia's highest courts, including a landmark workplace sexual harassment case.
