Aisya Abdul Rahman is an experienced legal, humanitarian and human rights practitioner with current teaching roles at University of Malaya. She has worked with diverse stakeholders to promote and apply the rule of law at all levels. Through her transversal roles, including with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (SUHAKAM), she has guided and supported decisionmakers, policymakers, and practitioners in understanding and applying international humanitarian law and human rights law. She has also actively contributed to regional and national lawmaking and policymaking processes; translated the law to national languages and local action; facilitated high-level humanitarian dialogues; developed information tools and materials; and delivered humanitarian assistance in places of detention. She has also assisted rule of law, human rights and post conflict development projects in/on Colombia, Ukraine, Scotland, and South Sudan. During her four-year practice at the Malaysian Bar, Aisya acted as counsel and represented clients in over 15 reported cases at Malaysia's highest courts, including a landmark workplace sexual harassment case.
