PROF. DR. HASHIM BIN ISMAIL

Dr. Hashim Ismail was an academician in the field of Malay Studies. He has extensive teaching experience in higher learning institutions in Malaysia, ended up his services at the Academy of Malay Studies, University of Malaya in 1988, and held the position as Head of Department and Deputy Director. Currently, he is Director of the Center for Malay Excellence, University Malaya. He also has been appointed as the University Malaya Senate’s Member. At the same time, he was involved in several consulting and institutional development work in the country. Dr. Hashim served as an affiliate fellow at the International Institute of Asian Studies (IIAS), University of Leiden, Netherland in 2008. With the expertise and experiences, Dr. Hashim was recognized and awarded by several institutions such as the Gold Medal awarded the Malay Teachers' Union of West Malaysia, East Research Prize, Guest Writer Award at the National Library, Criticism Essay Prize for Kelantan, Kencana DBP Literary Prize and Critics Prize Essay Malaysia's Premier Literary Prize. As a result of his involvement, Dr. Hashim has published books such as Sastera Melayu Mutakhir (2000), Permuafakatan dan Kerukunan – Teras Peradaban Malaysia (2009), Tinta Di Dada Naskhah (2010), Hermeneutik – Reaksi Reformasi Kaum Muda(2010), Dekonstruksi Identiti Dalam Teks Melayu (2018), Paradigma Melayu (2017), Kebudayaan Kebangsaan Dicabar (2017), and a large number of articles published in journals, magazines and newspapers. He has also been a member of the Southeast Asian Literary Council (MASTERA) since 2007 and been a jury member of the SEA Write Award (Malaysia), MASTERA Literary Prize Panel, Utusan Group Literary Prize Panel, Malaysia Premier Literary Prize Panel, One Malaysia Essay Prize Panel, Sarawak State Literary Awards Panel, Selangor Literary Awards, Johore Literary Awards, Negeri Sembilan Literary Awards, and several other Literary Prizes in the country.

DR. NURATIQAH AISYAH BINTI AWANG@MAT NAWI

Nuratiqah Aisyah Awang is a dedicated academic professional with a PhD in Facilities Management (Building) and a Bachelor’s degree in Building Surveying from the Faculty of Built Environment at Universiti Malaya (UM). She specialises in Facilities Management and is passionate about Healthcare and Inclusive Facilities Management. Her work focuses on optimising facilities management practices and enhancing quality of wellbeing, particularly for vulnerable groups such as individual with disabilities, the elderly, and children. Throughout her studies, she has received several awards, including the Hadiah Association of Building Engineers (ABE) in the UK, a Bronze award for her poster presentation at the International Research Innovation, Invention & Solution Exposition (IRIISE) 2018, and the Best Presenter award at the 11th ASEAN Postgraduate Seminar 2017.

DR. ARINDAM CHAKRABORTY

Dr Arindam was born and raised in Kolkata (India) and he did his B.Sc. with Biotechnology (Jiwaji University, India) and M.Sc. in Marine Biology at the Pondicherry University (India). For his Doctoral degree in Marine micropalaeontology at the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences (BSIP), India / University of Burdwan he worked on the Neogene microfossils and palaeoclimate of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He had the opportunity to travel internationally (UK, Scotland, France, Germany, Italy, Greece, Thailand, Poland, Taiwan, France, Turkey, Indonesia) and nationally to attend conferences and collaborated research work. His postdoctoral experience in India as a National Post-doctoral fellow (NPDF, 2017-2019) and Birbal Sahni Research Associate (BSRA, 2019-2022) at BSIP (India) was to understand the Neogene climate of northern Indian Ocean. During April, 2022 he joined the Stable Isotope laboratory at Institute of Earth Sciences (IES), Academia Sinica (Taiwan) as a Postdoctoral Researcher and worked on triple oxygen isotopes and silicon isotopes from diatoms. He is currently working as a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Geology, Faculty of Science, Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia since March, 2023. Other than the teaching responsibilities his research is focused on the palaeoclimatic variability during the geological history. He use microfossils (mainly siliceous microfossils and calacreous nannofossils) and their chemistry to determine patterns of global climatic conditions and ecology. He is also currently working on samples from International Ocean Drilling Program Expedition 342 (North Atlantic), Integrated Ocean Drilling Program Expedition 378 (South Pacific) and Integrated Ocean Drilling Program Expedition 391 (South Indian). He is also the Supervisor of the Geology Museum, Universiti Malaya. Dr Arindam is the Associate Fellow of Academy Sains Malaysia, Membership Secretary of The Micropalaeontological Society (UK) and also nominated member of Risk-KAN 'Past4future' Working group.
