ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. TAN BOON CHIN

Dr Tan Boon Chin is an Associate Professor and Director of the Centre for Research in Biotechnology for Agriculture (CEBAR) at the University of Malaya (UM). He obtained his BSc in Biotechnology from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and his PhD in Plant Biotechnology from the University of Nottingham. He joined UM as a postdoctoral research fellow before progressing to the position of Senior Lecturer. Dr Tan’s research spans plant molecular biology and biochemistry, focusing on understanding how transcription factors regulate responses to environmental stress in crops to improve tolerance under future climates. Key research goals include: (1) developing biostimulants to mitigate climate stress, (2) designing educational programmes for sustainable agriculture, and (3) providing evidence-based recommendations to policymakers. He also works on genetically manipulating plant biosynthetic pathways to produce beneficial bioactive compounds and exploring plants as alternative platforms for high-value recombinant proteins. Dr Tan served as the Lead Consultant for the National Biosafety Policy and Action Plan project. He is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Plant Growth Regulation (JPGR) and Annals of Botany (AoB), and serves on the Editorial Boards of BMC Plant Biology, Heliyon, Molecular Biotechnology (MOBI), Asia Pacific Journal of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (APJMBB), Discover Food, Discover Plants, and the Journal of Agribusiness Marketing (JAMA). Dr Tan is also the President of the Malaysian Society for Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (MSMBB), an Honorary Secretary General of the Asia Oceania Agricultural Proteomics Organization (AOAPO), a council member of the Malaysian Proteomics Society (MAPS), Malaysian Society of Plant Physiology (MSPP), and Malaysian Society of Systems and Synthetic Biology (MyBioSS), and an eLife Community Ambassador.  He received several awards, including the Royal Society-Newton Advanced Fellowship (2017), the Travel Award for the Asia Pacific Biosafety Association Conference from the United States Department of State Biosecurity Engagement Program (2017), and the Alltech Young Scientist Award 2012/13, and recognition as one of The Asian Scientist 100 for outstanding contributions to science in Asia (https://www.asianscientist.com/as100/). ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. SITI NURKAMILLA BINTI RAMDZAN

Dr. Siti Nurkamilla Ramdzan is an Associate Professor and a Family Medicine Specialist at the Department of Primary Care Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya. She has a deep commitment to her patients in primary care. Her research interest is in respiratory health, women's and children's health, and implementation research with a particular focus on children with asthma. Obtained her MBBS at Universiti Malaya before pursuing clinical advanced studies in Family Medicine at the same university. Later, she attained PhD in Global Health from the University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom. Dr Ramdzan is a passionate teacher, mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate trainees both in clinical and research. She is an active member of the academic community locally and internationally. Currently, she is the secretary of the Malaysian Primary Care Research Group. She has published in reputable journals, sharing insights from her research and clinical experiences. She is currently working to implement a national school-based asthma guideline in Malaysia. Dr Ramdzan envisions continued contributions to the field of primary care. Her mission is to create a lasting impact on both academic discourse and the well-being of local and global communities.

DR. ZAITON BINTI AZMAN

Dr. Zaiton Azman is a senior lecturer at the Department of Social Administration and Justice, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Malaya. Her core area of expertise is Criminology. She has been involved in developing and promoting teaching, learning, and research opportunities in the field of criminology and social work. She teaches crime and criminal justice, crime prevention, law and advocacy in human services, and social remedy. Her research interest focuses on crime prevention and community policing programs for children beyond control in Malaysia. She also involves as a consultant team member at National level projects such as Malaysian Social Workers Knowledge and Practice (2018) and Sarawak Well Being Index (2019-2020). 1. She is currently leading the FRGS research entitled Development of a Crime Safety Index Framework Based on a Sense of Safety Approach for Urban Communities (2023-Mac 2026). She is also a committee member of the Malaysian Criminology and Corrections Association (MCCA).
