PROF. DR. TAN MAW PIN

Tan Maw Pin is Professor in Geriatric Medicine at the University of Malaya. She qualified from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom. She received her postgraduate training in Internal Medicine at the Nottingham City Hospital and her higher specialist training in Geriatric Medicine at Newcastle upon Tyne. After working for two years as a consultant geriatrician at the Royal Victoria Infirmary and Freeman Hospital, she was appointed to an academic post at Universiti Malaya. She is the Principal Investigator of the Transforming Cognitive Frailty into Later Life Self-Sufficiency (AGELESS) programme which is funded by a Ministry of Higher Education Long Term Research Grant Scheme.  Prof Tan is the immediate President of the Malaysian Society of Geriatric Medicine and formerly the Honorary General Secretary of the College of Physicians of Malaysia. She is a member of the World Falls Guidelines Development Group, and a core member of the World Falls Society. In addition, she has founded the University of Malaya spin-off, ACT4Health Sdn Bhd, and as Medical Director of the Genting Dementia Day Care Centre and Managed Care Services Sdn Bhd.

ASSOCIATE PROF. IR. DR. TING HUA NONG

Associate Professor Ir. Dr. TING Hua Nong obtained his Bachelor, Master and PhD degree from University of Technology Malaysia, Malaysia. He is a Chartered Engineer of Engineering Council, UK and a member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET). He is a Professional Engineer (Ir) with the Board of Engineers Malaysia. He is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Malaya. He is a Visiting Professor at Jining Medical University, Shandong Province, China. He has active research collaboration with Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Southeast University and Jining Medical University. His research expertise and areas of research are speech analysis and processing and recognition, image processing and recognition, Artificial Intelligence, deep learning, and dielectric measurement with specific AI application in cancer research, cardiovascular diseases and respiratory diseases. He has completed supervision of 7 PhD students, 3 Master students by research and 19 Master students by coursework. Currently, he is supervising 8 PhD students and 4 Master students. He has published more than 30 ISI-indexed and Scopus-indexed journal articles and 30 conference proceedings. His articles appear in high impact factor journals such as Expert Systems with Applications, Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence, Computer Methods and Programs in Biomedicine, Biomedical Signal Processing and Control, IEEE Access, Journal of Cancer and Journal of Voice. He has obtained several internal research grants of University of Malaya such as Short-Term Grant (PGP), University of Malaya Research Grant (UMRG), Research University (RU) grant and external research grants such as Science fund, UKM internal grant with a total of more than RM 1.35 million. He was involved as the technical programme committee and organizing committee in more than 25 national and international conferences. He has been an invited speaker for a few international conferences in China and Taiwan. He was actively involved as reviewer for more than 15 journals and 110 conferences, internal and external research grant proposals and postgraduate theses. He was a member of the Publicity Committee for International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE) in 2018-2022. He was member of the Asia Pacific Working Group, IFMBE in 2015-2018. He was a recipient of the IFBME Asia Pacific Research Networking Fellowship in 2012. Currently, he is collaborating with academicians from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Southeast University, Guangxi Medical University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Swinburne University of Technology, Australia.

ASSOCIATE PROF. TS. DR. ZUL ILHAM BIN ZULKIFLEE LUBES

  Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Zul Ilham bin Zulkiflee Lubes completed his B.Sc.(Hons.) in Universiti Malaya (UM), a Panasonic Scholar for M.Sc. and a JICA AUN/SEED-Net Scholar for his Doctoral study at the Department of Socio-Environmental Energy Science, Graduate School of Energy Science, Kyoto University, Japan. His research interest is in the field of biomass science and bioenergy, with esteemed awards from Japan Institute of Energy and American Oil Chemists’ Society (AOCS). Currently, as part of Malaysia's effort to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, he is actively studying the role of biomass in urban energy management. Dr. Zul Ilham also serves as Associate Editor for academic journals PROGEE, MJS, JISDeP, JSAEM and Special Issue Editor for Processes. He has been appointed as M.Sc. and Ph.D. external examiner for several Malaysian universities (USIM, USM, UTM, UTeM and IIUM) and internationally (Indonesia, Pakistan and Japan). As an alumnus of the Young South-East Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Professional Fellows Program, he volunteers regularly in promoting energy literacy, renewable energy and climate action to youth and community (Sustainable Development Goals; SDG 7 and 13) including being the country coordinator of the Asian Students Environment Platform (ASEP), a project supported by AEON Environmental Foundation. Professionally, he is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) by ASEAN Centre of Energy and a Professional Technologist accredited by the Malaysian Board of Technologists (MBOT). He and his team also secured national and industrial research grants such as the FRGS, Gamuda Land, Petronas as well as several coveted international research grants. Dr. Zul Ilham has been invited to participate as plenary or invited speaker in several international conferences and has been Visiting Scholar to several universities (Kyoto University Japan, Zhejiang University China, Universitas Andalas and Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Indonesia). He was also the recipient of Fulbright Malaysian Scholar Award 2022/2023 as Visiting Associate Professor at the Department of Biological and Environmental Engineering, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Cornell University, USA. Administratively, Dr. Zul Ilham was the Program Coordinator for B.Sc. Environmental Science and Management, Deputy Director at the UM Centre of Civilisational Dialogue, Deputy Dean (Research and Innovation) for the Faculty of Science UM and currently the Director of UM Grant Management Centre. He is also the core member of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities Forest Biomass Ecosystem Living Lab Initiative and expert panel in the ASEAN-UNESCAP Carbon Neutrality Campus Network, tasked to formulate a regional carbon neutral course for university students.
