Biography | |
![]() ![]() Caning A. Jaramillo R. was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and from an early age, he embarked on a diverse and impressive journey, amassing over 15 years of invaluable experience in the financial sector. His career includes executive positions at renowned financial institutions, including Mercantil Bank, Santander Bank, and Citibank, spanning across Latin America. Despite his demanding professional life, Caning pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration at the Central University of Venezuela, successfully juggling work during the day and pursuing his education at night. In 2000, Caning's fervor for education led him to pursue a postgraduate degree while training as a Business Teacher at the "Fe y Alegría" International School in Baruta, Miranda State, Venezuela. He further enriched his educational background by obtaining his teaching credential in Tertiary Education from Santa Maria University in 2001. Notably, he shared his expertise by teaching Finance for Tourism Companies at the University New Profession in Caracas, Venezuela, until 2002. As his passion for teaching expanded, Caning ventured into teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language, becoming a dedicated member of the International School of Campo Alegre in Caracas, Venezuela. He commenced his practice in 2001 and completed his Postgraduate Degree in Education at University Santa Maria in July 2003. In 2003, Caning embarked on an international journey by relocating to Malaysia, where he joined the International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL) as a Spanish Intern for the Middle School program. During his tenure, he honed his skills in teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language and concluded his contract as an official Middle School Spanish Teacher in 2005. Caning's commitment to professional development was unwavering. He undertook professional courses in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language with Aula Cervantes Institutes in Malaysia and the Philippines and achieved the Cambridge International Certificate for Teaching and Learning. In 2008, Caning returned to Gold Coast, Australia, where he attained Australian Citizenship. However, his passion for teaching drew him back to the education sector, as he lectured Spanish at tertiary levels for various universities, including University Putra Malaysia (UPM) and University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). In 2015, he seized a new opportunity as the Account Manager for the Southeast Asia Region at "BankTrade," an American company from New Jersey, USA, before returning to Kuala Lumpur in 2017. There, he became a Spanish Lecturer at HELP College of Arts & Technology until September 2018. In June 2018, Caning added another professional certificate to his list of accomplishments from Aula Cervantes in Kuala Lumpur, incorporating the latest European grids and methodologies for teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language. Currently, he continues to enrich the academic world by working at the University Malaya as a Spanish language teacher and Industrial Practices Coordinator within the Asian & European Department at the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics since August 1, 2018. Beyond his academic pursuits, Caning is a multifaceted individual who has been appointed as an official interpreter for numerous business meetings and conferences for prestigious institutions, including the Venezuelan Embassy, Embassy of Spain, Rubber Malaysian Corporations, and Malaysian Government Agencies. In addition to his academic and professional achievements, Caning is an enthusiastic stock market investor, entrepreneur, and business owner. He has also ventured into the realms of film production and advertising, showcasing his versatility and dedication to various fields of interest. |
