Dr. Mohammad Ali Tareq is a finance scholar and academic specializing in financial economics, financial technology (FinTech), blockchain, and innovation and technology management. He currently serves as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Finance, Faculty of Business and Economics at Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. With extensive international academic training and professional experience, Dr. Tareq’s work focuses on the evolving intersection of financial markets, technological innovation, and digital financial systems. Dr. Tareq earned his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Business Administration from Shiga University, Japan. His doctoral research examined the empirical validity of the Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM), focusing on the measurement of expected returns and asset pricing behaviour in financial markets. Prior to his PhD, he completed an MPhil in Real Estate Finance at University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, where his research explored the sensitivity of macroeconomic factors on Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) returns. He also holds both MBA and BBA degrees in Finance from University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Before joining Universiti Malaya, Dr. Tareq served for nearly a decade as a Senior Lecturer at the Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), part of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. During this period, he contributed significantly to interdisciplinary teaching and research at the intersection of finance, technology management, and innovation systems. His academic career spans teaching, research, and curriculum development across multiple international higher education environments. Dr. Tareq’s research interests include asset pricing, financial market behaviour, FinTech innovation, blockchain applications in finance, and technology-driven transformation in financial systems. His work frequently applies empirical financial analysis and econometric techniques to investigate how technological developments and digital platforms influence financial markets, investor behaviour, and financial institutions. In addition to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in finance and econometrics, Dr. Tareq is actively involved in research collaborations, conference presentations, and interdisciplinary initiatives that link finance with emerging technological trends. His broader research vision centers on advancing knowledge in digital finance and financial innovation while contributing to the development of more efficient, transparent, and inclusive financial systems. Through his academic work, Dr. Tareq aims to bridge traditional financial theory with contemporary technological developments, supporting the evolution of modern financial ecosystems in both academic and practical contexts.
