Biography | |
Mohd Zaidi Md Zabri is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Finance, Faculty of Business and Economics, Universiti Malaya. He holds a PhD from the IIUM Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance, International Islamic University Malaysia. Driven by a deep commitment to fostering financial well-being, his research interests lie in the fields of Islamic social finance and Islamic financial literacy. He firmly believes that equipping individuals with fundamental knowledge of Islamic finance serves as a safeguard against falling prey to financial scams. Startlingly, recent data from the Royal Malaysian Police reveals that such scams have amassed a staggering RM5.2 billion (approximately USD1.16 billion) in losses from 2020 to May 2022 alone. To put this figure into perspective, it is comparable to the GDP of Perlis, Malaysia's smallest state. In lieu of the above, he is deeply passionate about financial literacy and has made appearances across mainstream media platforms such as Selamat Pagi Malaysia (RTM) and Malaysia Hari Ini (MHI). He has published in popular Malaysian dailies such as Utusan Malaysia, Berita Harian, Kosmo!, Harian Metro, New Straits Time, and The Malaysian Insight (for the complete list of his mainstream media sharing, please click through here. The link is safe, I promise). As of July 2023, the cumulative estimated value of publicity generated by his media appearances and newspaper articles stands at RM2.5 million. He is also a proud father of an autistic son who loves buying books more than he can read (by the way, it's not hoarding if it's books). |
