Dr Syaza Nawwarah Zein Isma is a Senior Lecturer and the Head of the Actuarial Science Programme at the University of Malaya. Since earning her PhD from the Australian National University, her work has focused on the practical application of actuarial studies to socio-economic challenges, particularly in the field of higher education financing. With a professional background that spans teaching and research roles at several leading institutions, Dr Syaza has developed a specialized focus on Income-Contingent Loan (ICL) models. She is currently managing a research grant dedicated to modernizing student loan structures in Malaysia. Alongside her academic duties, she serves as a technical consultant for the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) and collaborates on industry-linked risk management projects for Petco. She is dedicated to supervising postgraduate research and ensuring that actuarial education remains closely aligned with national industry needs.
