Biography | |
Dr Roslan Saub obtained his Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 1990 from the University of Malaya. Upon graduation he served the Ministry of Health (MOH) for four years. His first posting was in Limbang, Sarawak, a place where not many young people like him then, wanted to go. Dr Saub took the challenge with the passion for helping people and improving their quality of life. After two years in Sarawak, he was transferred to Grik, Perak. With his caring attitude, Dr Saub continued to serve the people in Grik. While he was in Grik, he received an offer from University Malaya to be a lecturer. His childhood dream to be a teacher was materialized when he finally decided to join University Malaya as an academia, starting as a tutor. He then pursued his postgraduate training in Preventive and Community Dentistry and obtained a Master degree from the University of Melbourne in 1996. Upon returning home he was appointed as a lecturer. He was adaptable, flexible and willing to learn as well as being trustworthy, honest, reliable and looking forward to being part of a team that ensured the best possible learning and teaching for his students. His hunger for knowledge had brought him to Canada to continue his PhD. Under the guidance of his renowned supervisor, the late Prof Dr David Locker, Dr Saub completed his PhD at the University of Toronto, Canada in 2004 within the stipulated time. Dr. Saub returned home with the determination to continue the struggle to educate his students to become dentists who are knowledgeable, caring and adherent to the highest level of ethical values. His interest in teaching has made him continuously looking out for new ideas to improve his teaching. Besides teaching, Dr Saub is also actively involved in conducting researches in his field of interest. His research interest is on OHQoL, oral epidemiology, dental behavioural science, and adolescent oral health. He has published several articles in the local and international journals. He is currently a Professor of the Department of Community Oral Health and Clinical Prevention of University of Malaya and a senior consultant in Dental Public Health
