Biography | |
Dr. M. Rezaul Islam has been working as a Visiting Senior Lecturer in the Department of Social Administration & Justice, University of Malaya, Malaysia since December 2012. He is Professor at the Institute of Social Welfare & Research, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Over the past 18 years, he has been involved in developing and promoting research opportunities for international exchange partnerships with a number of international funding agencies and universities e.g., UNICEF, UNESCO, USAID, ILO, UNDP, World Bank, Concern Universal, Concern Worldwide, University of Nottingham (England), Charles Sturt University (Australia), and Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi, Iasi (Romania). He teaches social research methodology, community development, rural and urban development, human rights, globalization and Social Work. He is actively involved in social work education and professional development of Social Work in Bangladesh and Malaysia. After completion his MSW and PhD from the University of Nottingham, England, his research interests focus on international migration, human displacement, poverty and human rights, child welfare, NGOs and community development which is embedded by a human rights approach and inspired by people who are vulnerable and affected by structural causes of poverty, unemployment and inequalities. He has published his extensive research works from a number high quality ISI and Scopus cited scientific journals e.g., Community Development Journal (Oxford University Press); Habitant International and Journal of Rural Studies (Elsevier); Social Indicators Research, Natural Hazards, and Global Social Welfare (Springer), International Social Work (Sage); Social Work in Public Health, Social Service Research, Child Care in Practice, and Asia Pacific Journal of Social Work and Development (Routledge); International Migration, Disasters, and Asia Pacific Journal of Social Work and Policy Review (Wiley). He is an assigned and regular reviewer of a number of reputed Journals including Child Development (Wiley), British Journal of Social Work (Oxford University Press), Community Development Journal (Oxford University Press), Sociological Review (Wiley), Habitant International (Elsevier), etc. He is currently taking the study: ‘Impacts of globalization on local identity: Comparative study between South East Asia and Latin America’ |
