Payam Shafigh has received his doctoral degree (with distinction) in Structural Engineering & Materials from the University of Malaya in 2013. He obtained his MSc in Civil Engineering-Structure (2003) and BSc in Civil Engineering (2000) from the Babol Noshirvani University of Technology. He received a number of national and international awards for his research on concrete, as he received his first international award from the American Concrete Institute (ACI) headquarter in concrete cube strength competition in 2000 during his bachelor degree. He was also awarded the best MSc thesis in civil engineering in 2003 from ACI-Iran chapter. He is a reviewer for more than 160 international journals and conferences. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE), and Graduate Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), UK. He is teaching subjects related to Concrete Technology and Construction Materials, Theory of Structure and Structural Design. His research interests include Structural Lightweight Concrete and Lightweight Concrete Structures, Concrete Composites, Concrete Thermal Properties, Rigid Pavements, Concrete Repair and Strengthening of Concrete Structures. As supervisor, site engineer and structure inspector; he was involved in several public and private construction projects for applying advanced concrete materials such as high performance concrete and structural lightweight aggregate concrete in bridges and buildings.
