I received all of my degrees at the University of Chicago. My research interests are modern Korean history since the late 16th century, Korea-Japan relations since the 19th century, Korea-U. S. relations in the 20th century, the Korean War, the Cold War, the San Francisco Peace Treaty and territorial sovereignty. I have published in Acta Koreana, Asia-Pacific Viewpoint, Korea Journal, and Territory, Politics, and Governance, among others. I am the author of Japanese Judicial Imperialism and the Origins of the Coercive Illegality of Japan's Annexation of Korea, 1876-1910 (Palgrave-MacMillan, 2023), The Dawn of War in South Korea, 1947-1950 (Springer, 2024), and East Asian International Relations in History: The Long and Stormy 20th Century (Springer, 2024). |
