ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. RUSDI BIN ABD RASHID

Dr. Rusdi Abd. Rashid is a graduate of University Malaya obtaining the degree MBBS in 1998. He continued with a Masters in Psychological Medicine in University of Malaya and completed his master degree in year 2006. He received  addiction training course  in Turning point , Melbourne in year 2007 and Open Medical Institute , Salzberg , Austria in year 2008. Subsequently, he undergo the fellowship program under  the WHO Collaborating Centre in Korea for Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Community Mental Health in the same  year. He is currently a senior lecturer in the University of Malaya and  the chief coordinator of the University Malaya Center for Addiction Sciences(UMCAS) and coordinator for substance abuse treatment services, University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC). Dr Rusdi has involved with most of pilot addiction treatment program in Malaysia. He is a Clinical Co-investigator and Visiting psychiatrist for Pilot Methadone Program in Pengkalan Chepa Prison, Kota Bharu, Malaysia(2008-2009). He is also a clinical Co-investigator, Prison-Community Link Project on Harm Reduction (PICOL-HR or Project HARAPAN) 2009 – present.  He is a Committee members for National Methadone Maintenance Program, Malaysia(2006-present). He is a  Project Coordinator for Spiritual Enhanced Drug Addiction Rehabilitation (SEDAR) Program: Pilot Methadone Project in Ar-Rahman Mosque, Malaysia(2009-present). He is a Committee members and visiting psychiatrist for Pilot Methadone Program in Government Drug Rehabilitation Centre (PUSPEN PERSADA), Malaysia(2010-present) and  a Committee members and visiting Psychiatrist for Pilot Methadone Program in Aftercare Centre National Anti-Drug Agency (NADA)-2007-2009.

DATUK PROF. DR. AWANG AZMAN BIN AWANG PAWI

Datuk Professor Dr Awang Azman Awang Pawi  had served in the academia world for 26 years.  The journey of his academic crossing  the institutions such as  Faculty Of Applied and Creative Arts, Center For Language Studies (Now Faculty of Language and Communication Studies), Nusantara Chair, Institute of East Asian Studies ( Now Institute of Borneo Studies) University Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) untill Guest Scholar at Leiden University, Netherlands. He has been involved in the Malay Studies for more than 20 years. He graduated in Malay Studies (UM) for his doctorate and Malay Letters for his Master of Arts (UKM) and  Bachelor of Arts Second Class Upper (UKM)(Malay Letters and minor in History). He has researched, written and produced books, chapters in books, refereed journal papers (national and international), mass media and social media. Currently, he is a columnist for Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, Kuala Lumpur,  Sin Chew Daily, The Malaysian Insight and Sarawakvoice.com, a social media platform for Sarawak political affairs. His views in socioculture and political affairs appeared in Bloomberg, The South  China Morning Post (Hong Kong), Channel News Asia (Singapore), Nikkei Asian Review (Tokyo), Tempo (Jakarta). His interest in cross-discplinary field in Malay world culture, literature and heritage as well as Borneo ethnics and political culture. PROF. DR. SHIREEN ANNE NAH HAN YIEN

Professor Shireen Anne Nah is a senior consultant paediatric surgeon and Head of the Division of Paediatric Surgery, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya. Shireen draws on a wealth of experience working overseas. Upon completion of paediatric surgery specialist training at the Paediatric Institute, Hospital Kuala Lumpur, she underwent a 2 year clinical research fellowship at the UCL Institute of Child Health & Great Ormond Hospital for Children in London, UK. This was followed by 8 years as a paediatric surgeon in KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Singapore, before she returned to Malaysia in 2019. Shireen’s areas of research interest are congenital colorectal conditions in children, health outcomes, and quality of life. She is passionate about quality and standards in postgraduate training, and champions sustainability and diversity in surgery. She is also engaged in multiple international collaborative networks in Singapore, UK, Europe and North America, and hopes to increase loco-regional collaborations in ASEAN nations. Shireen is a proud UM alumna, who completed her undergraduate medical degree and postgraduate surgical training at the Faculty of Medicine.
